Retsam's construction package
Added over 100 workshop building items related to settlement structures.
Most items are unique, never-before-seen pieces, allowing for some very creative settlement building.
Categories include: foundation; flooring; caulk; wedge; wall; wall coping, wall end cap; columns; posts; steel frame (skylights); steel trim (for floors), floor brackets; turret brackets; steps; stairs; walkways; and modular handrails with idle animations.
Materials include: Steel, Wood, Clean Concrete (Beige), Driveway Concrete (Dirty), Castle Concrete (Grey), Cinder Block (Covenant Style), Red Brick (matches Hangman's Alley), Clean (Church) Stone, Old Stone, Dirt, Brown Grass, and Green Grass. Everything comes in a variety of unique sizes and is navmeshed where needed, with appropriate material type properties.
This mod is something I've been working on for 5 months, and the numbers are not an exaggeration. Last time I checked, I had over 400 unique Nif models, many of which used material swapping to create more menu objects. TBH, I have no idea how many items I have. The last time I exported the list it was around 700.
Enough to give you new fun in old games. . This work is more like a full-blown expansion pack than a mod. It's a mod within a mod.
They are all organized under the Workshop menu -> Structures -> Architecture of Resam. Should be the last item on the list.
Requirements: DLC1 (for textures)
A note on textures and mod sizes:
I originally included separate copies of the textures in my modpack. But as mods grow, this makes it quite large, over 30 megabytes. So I changed my material files to point to the game's textures. This does make the mod noticeably smaller (<2 megs), but also has the disadvantage that another mod may have changed the textures or they are missing due to missing DLC, which I ignored. Anyway, if you're missing a texture, please post about it so I can fix it.
Technical Note:
Files are named with the prefix: sag_ConcreteConstruction
First and most important:
I have no doubt that somewhere I screwed something up. There were times I was working on this mod at 3 or 4 in the morning, and considering there are literally hundreds of pieces, well, I'm sure I missed something. I've tried my best to triple-check my work and most of the items I use, or at least test in my own games. However, other than a few minor issues with the attachment points and the vanilla pieces that I'll detail below, I didn't have any real issues. No missing textures, weird glitches, crashes, etc. If you do find a real bug, please post it. I'll try to fix it. But be sure to read the details first. Some things will turn out the way they do now.
Most pieces have an obvious purpose, but I'll outline a few special things about them at the end of this introduction. It would be a good idea to read it. It might save you some confusion later. Fair warning, this is going to be a long read. ;)
Installation and removal:
Use vortex. It eliminates a lot of problems. If you're doing a manual install, then I assume you know what you're doing and you're on your own.
Remove:
Well, this mod adds a few things to the game. Lots of stuff. But it doesn't touch scripts etc., just makes studio objects.
Standard rules apply:
First, you should delete every instance of any object created from this mod, including any objects stored in the Workshop, and then you can delete the mod. Simple and easy.
question:
There are no known major issues yet, but I'm sure someone will find something.
Important things:
Good modeling and texturing requires skills I don't have. I think mine is okay, but even I can see some things that …
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
