background
The M71 rifle was originally developed by Romington as a compact replacement for anti-materiel rifles intended for use in densely populated urban combat zones. To accommodate the smaller size, the caliber was changed to the shorter 12.7mm bullet. Unfortunately, during testing, this gun quickly proved to be an inadequate replacement for an anti-material rifle. Not wanting to retire the weapon, Romington quickly renamed the rifle the M71 Hunter and positioned it as a precision anti-infantry rifle. It quickly gained traction among American Outlaws. After the war, it remained a favorite of gunfighters, survivalists, and mercenaries, and could be found across the United States.
Features
This mod adds a new mid-term 12.7mm sniper rifle, a unique and a new loading screen to the game. The gun has 8 barrels, 4 muzzles, 7 magazines, 13 sights, a bipod, and 7 stocks.
This rifle packs quite a punch, allowing for incredibly long range shots at the expense of smaller magazine sizes and higher recoil than other rifles.
The weapon will start in the Shop and Legendary at level 20, then appear on Gunners, Railroad Agents, Brotherhood Soldiers, and Reavers around the Federation at level 26 and above
Unique Edition
During the final years of the Sino-American War, professional scouts operating in the Yangtze River region carried modified Special Purpose Hunter rifles. Sometimes these custom rifles follow their owners home and are placed on little-known military bases.
The Yangtze Campaign Scout Rifle can be found in Listening Post Bravo, leaning against some crates on the ground. Once you take the elevator down, it's right in front of you.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
