Version 1.02
Fixed an issue in Bethesda's implementation of automatic orc object encounters that allowed them to appear in worldspace outside of the Federation.
Restored Automatron's random encounter probability variable to scale rarity more efficiently. This eliminates the need to install patches for mods like Game Configuration Menu.
Blacklisted Islands and Nuka Worlds from the main random encounter tree, as they have their own separate trees and should never be drawn from the main federation encounter list.
It's been seven years since the game launched, and we're still running the first hundred or so random encounters in almost every mod configuration. Why? Because the game's random encounter system isn't really compatible with mods. Of course, some people have implemented their own themed random encounter settings, often avoiding the system entirely. But it’s big, complicated, and cumbersome. It doesn't need to be.

Features
Reorganized the random encounter trees in the game's story manager so that they are properly compatible with mods.
Moderately reduced how common Nuka World and Automatron random encounters are in the Commonwealth for the reasons stated above.

FAQ
How do I get started using this mod?
If you're using a mod that requires this, install it! No configuration or special steps are required. If you want to use this to create your own random encounters, see the articles tab and view the optional files for example plugins.
Is this compatible with SKK's Random Encounter Manager?
Yes. This mod tweaks and cleans up the base game random encounters, and you'll continue to see its additions with SKK as long as you enable "Base Game RE Generation" in the settings of the Random Encounter Manager.
Where can I get a mod that uses it?
For now, you can check out the patch center I maintain for this mod. Beyond that, if a mod requires this framework, the author will most likely tell people.
I don't use anything that requires this mod, why should I bother getting it?
One side effect of the way this mod works is that the random encounters added by the automatic workshop are no longer as annoying as they once were. Plus, if you install the sample plugin, you'll occasionally find a special surprise Vault-Tech Lunchbox.
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
