About this mod Machine translation
Added original ("Stick Bow" only) archery style.
Preface: Far Harbor Nuclear World DLC
"They ran out of machine bows a long time ago. No one makes nylon anymore, or that Kevlar, or what have you. It decays fast and you can't repair it. So listen here, listen carefully: You use what the land gives you. Wood, sinew, bone...that's where the bow comes in!
-Old Mach
Master Archer, Teacher of the Young
If you use an alternate start, or simply don't intend to use the Intelligence perk, you generally won't run the machine shop, laboratory, or factory you inevitably build to continue supplying your high-tech "survivors." Instead, you'll use what you find, and whatever you can make with just simple tools. LString Fallout Bow by gyjh4862 is a great mod for this type of character. But this mod is for those who want to keep their industrial skills low and focus on a simple bow that will get you through your adventure. To do this, you will have two options, the wooden bow and the Mongolian bow.
detail:
- Modern compound and recurve bows are a thing of the past, you can't build them or find any working examples. Their unique synthetic materials and exquisitely engineered components have long been forgotten and abandoned for simpler weapons. Therefore, there are only two types of bows available in this mod:
Mongolian bow
This is the most self-sufficient option. It has bone-laminated limbs, starts out very powerful, is at the top of the food chain, and can inflict damage (60). Swallowtail and Swallowtail (Fire) Arrows can be made for it anytime and anywhere without any special skills. If you can find other arrow types, you can now use them as well: Field Point, Broadhead, Incendiary, and Explosive.
wooden bow
This bow is more versatile and easier to tweak with reinforcements, sights, and a wider variety of arrows, but the base damage is less intense (45). Without any special skills, you can craft stone-tipped and/or swallow-tailed arrows (and their fire variants). If you can find any other arrow types, you can use them as well.
- If you have Demolition Expert and Lockpicking privileges, you can craft Incendiary Arrows and Explosive Arrows. These no longer require gun nuts; considering you can craft grenades with just the Demoltions talent, crafting a smaller grenade for arrows just requires more finesse, and a lockpick is suitable for that.
No other arrow crafting details have been changed.
- Instead of Iron Fist, the Bow Strength (70+) upgrade now requires the Strong Back [6] or Steady Aim [7] talents, as they can only be obtained by possessing actual strength.
- Arrow switchers can be crafted at the Chem Station along with everything else and added as hotkeys. For some reason, the MCM version fails to bind the key - it points to the handler, but does not bind. There could be any number of reasons for this, but since the craftable switcher works, I left it alone.
- I updated the loading screen model and wording to accurately reflect the lore of this mod.
- Edited the Mongol bow's mesh to more accurately resemble the RL Mongol bow by reducing the width of the limbs.
- Darken the grain of a wooden bow considerably, indicating that it has been waterproofed with bitumen or resin.
- Updated the third-person animation and corrected the version provided by wodnjs7125 (Thank you!
Install:
- Install using your usual mod manager.
- Do not enable this mod and LString Fallout Bow at the same time, they will conflict.
IMPORTANT NOTE: I am using Fallout 4 v. 1.10.163 and will not be testing this mod on Next-Gen (1.10.40). It would be great if you run this mod on the latest version and it works. If not, then anyone interested in making a patch is of course welcome.
grateful:
Thanks to gyjh4862 without them this mod wouldn't be possible
Fixed third person animation thanks to wodnjs7125

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
