Power Armor Workbench Animation (Updated)
No more switching your PA set just to read 30 seconds of text or display the "sleep" menu! A lightweight mod that enables power armor animations when using workbenches, beds, and terminals with chairs. Add sprites with native PA animations to the applicable keywords, which means using the original animations that work properly

Update 1.1 on October 10th: Moved changes to the addition subgraph data record to improve compatibility with other mods.
Added missing keywords to Nuka World Mixing Station
Overview
This mod adds sprite entries and animation text data to the workbench, terminal, and bed keywords to enable default game animations when using the correct behavior graph for these objects.
Most workbenches now use the "horizontal hammer" PA animation, which you often see NPCs using when crafting at a workbench. This animation is already used in the original workbench animation set and works fine. There are no floating hands, drifting jetpacks or other weird artifacts that you get when using human animations on PA models.
Unfortunately, there are no original animations suitable for the cooking station, so I (original author Treadwheel, the same below) chose to use the "PA Repair" animation set. This shouldn't be too annoying, as the camera angle mainly makes it look like you're fiddling with what's in front of you.
compatibility
The only non-PA animation used is the bed animation. I made this decision because Sleeping in Bed just shows you the menu without actually playing any animations. Beds that use a different animation set than the base game will still report that you can't use them with power armor.
This mod does work with ECO - Gear and Crafting Overhaul and has been tested. You need to enable "Power Armor Workbench Animations" in the ECO MCM menu to use these animations with the Universal Workbench. All other workbenches should work without special steps.
mistake
As far as I know there are no errors. Places to watch out for strange behavior are Prydwen and player settlements, which use PA-equipped NPCs. Please report anything you find, as there are steps that can be taken to free this mod from strange NPC behavior.
One quirk of the animations used is that they leave you in a third-person camera when you're done. This is an artifact of the original animation being used and I'm trying to work around it.
More versions
I've planned the next steps for this mod, which include porting the appropriate bench animations to the Power Armor rig and assembling most of the workflow. Unfortunately, I was unable to obtain a copy of 3DS Max 2015/2016, which is required to use some of the required plugins. Unfortunately, older versions of the software are no longer for sale. If anyone knows of a place where this program is still being sold for a reasonable amount, has their own access and is willing to collaborate, or has any other ideas, please get in touch!
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
