Use the bent leg method that was fixed in Fallout 76 to fix the same pose of the Fallout 4 Power Armor
There was always something off about the power armor in Fallout 4, and I didn't realize it until I finally noticed it while playing Fallout 76.
In Fallout 4, the power armor's idle pose gives you this weird bent-legged position. This is not visible in the animation and is caused by the IK configuration in the PowerArmorCharacter.hkx file.
Fortunately, I finally managed to solve this annoying problem. I found that it actually made a big enough difference that the power armor now looks less fat and more heroic, which explains why it was fixed in Fallout 76.
This problem actually exists in human bones as well, although it's much more subtle. If people want, I can also try this fix there and see how much it affects it. To give people an idea of what I mean, tcl and walk up about 1m from the ground and you'll see this IK issue disappear, then tcl again and watch your back leg bend after landing.
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
