About this mod Machine translation
Current version 1.11: Fixed an issue where the virtual actor inside the armor would not disappear after removing the AI module.
Too many power armor frames and not enough loyal bodies to fill them out? Now you can turn those rusty old suits into battle-ready allies!
After crafting the Power Armor AI module at any ChemStation, you will need to plug it into a set of Power Armor that already has a Fusion Core. The set will animate as a follower, with full companion functionality including trade, wait, and commands. Removing the AI module will revert the suit to its old inert self.
Suits have high health, but they are not essential characters and can be killed, destroying that frame.
Can't stand the bulky armor you see everywhere but still need a little extra protection? By crafting special signal grenades, you will be able to summon up to three registered suits to any outdoor location, sending them into the midst of your enemies! If you decide to use the Explosive Vent model airdrop set, be aware of the massive collateral damage...
Technical details and known issues
The AI module runs through the OnContainerChanged script function. Due to the stupid way Bethesda implemented stacks of multiple items, this function will not fire if the item in question comes from the stack. This script contains a workaround for this issue, automatically removing other AI modules from the inventory and re-adding them as needed: Pip-Boy will show you are only carrying one, but notifications will show the correct number whenever the stack size changes.
In order to implement an empty frame as an ArmorAddon, I had to change an obviously unused vanilla model. Any other mods touching paframe_wastelander.nif will have minor compatibility issues.
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
