As the title states, Dank's 22-year-old optimization module not only improves immersion by reducing large map items, but also improves machine performance and significantly reduces lag. It was originally planned to be released at this time last year, but due to the problem of Chinese translation, it has been postponed until now. It happened that a boss recently made a Chinese version, so I posted it conveniently.
Updated on November 11th:
Version 4.0.0
The mod once again appears as a single plugin. All DLC module content has been moved to the base plugin. That's because Fallout 4's Anniversary Edition already includes all of the DLC and makes things more manageable.
Updated on August 8th:
Version 3.0.5
Re-enabled most loosely placed objects in the Glowing Sea; thanks to user DaCrazyBeggar for making me aware of them
There aren't that many disabled references to begin with, so you shouldn't notice much of a difference, if any; it should be most noticeable in Atomic Crater and Virgil's Laboratory, which should look more lively now
Personal update on August 5th: Thanks to the reminder in the comment area, the correct Chinese address has been updated.
Updated on July 31st:
Version 3.0.4
Base game plugin:
- Chance to get any miscellaneous items from LVLI "Container_Loot_Gorebag_Misc" reduced by 30% to compensate for the removal of some junk items
- The chance of getting any junk items from the LVLI "LLD_Junk_VerySmall" has been reduced by 90% to compensate for the removal of most items from the list, so you won't mainly see a few caps in this LVLI
- Chance to get any food from LVLI "LLI_Loot_Food_Rare" reduced by 50% to compensate for the removal of half of the items in the list
- Chance to get any food from LVLI "LLI_Loot_Food_Unique" reduced by 50% to compensate for the removal of half of the items in the list
- The chance of getting any food from the LVLI "LL_Food_Basic" has been reduced by 25% to compensate for the removal of about a quarter of the items in the list
Updated on July 27, 2025:
Version 3.0.3
Re-enabled several Giddyup Buttercup references found in NukaWorld to make the quest "Noon in the Canyon" easier, you will need a toy instance of The Giddyup Kid
Version 3.0.2
Updated some entries with new or modified data from UFO4P and PRP, this has no functional impact on your setup, just for completeness

Preface
This mod exists for four reasons:
It doesn't make much sense that in the 200 years between the dropping of the atomic bombs and now, people have struggled to survive without coming up with the idea of utilizing the resources left behind after the war. The game features scavenger NPCs, but they don't seem to scavenge anything. Suppliers replenish supplies out of thin air. Now, the world actually feels like every resource is put to good use or turned into money.
I don't like the fact that the game world is filled with mostly unnecessary objects that serve no real purpose other than being a drag on performance.
I'm wondering how much of an impact these objects have on performance. Spoilers: Not as many as I expected, but definitely noticeable.
I wish the vendors and money (including associated benefits) were more meaningful. Now you have to buy your resources from them, instead of finding excess resources everywhere (as if you were the first in those areas).

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
