About this mod:

Several general bug fixes and some optional improvements for face positioning.

By default, only normal bug fixes are enabled.

Optional improvements are not enabled by default, they can be enabled in the INI for more immersive interactions.

Original bug fixes:

  • Fixed a bug that caused players to stop looking at companions when selecting the "Relationship" dialogue option.
  • Fixed a bug that caused players to occasionally stop looking at dialogue targets:
  • Before the dialogue camera turns off (usually when the player's dialogue line is short)
  • After selecting the trade option when talking to an NPC that can trade, but before the container menu opens
  • After selecting the barter option when talking to a vendor, but before the barter menu opens

Optional Improvements - Face Targeting Options:

  • Facial Target Command Companion:
  • Whether to look at your companions when ordering them in command mode
  • Face the target companion in the dialogue selection:
  • Whether to start looking at your companion when command mode dialogue options (e.g. Talk, Trade, Relationship) appear
  • The target NPC that the player greets:
  • Whether the player is looking at the NPC they are greeting (i.e. the NPC you activate to talk to)
  • Facial target NPC greets player
  • Whether to look at the NPC that greets the player5)

Random face target idle:

  • Highly customizable "Players randomly view nearby NPCs" feature
  • Customizable NPC types, randomness, facial target ("gaze") time, cool down time, target eye contact requirements, and more.

set up:

The settings INI is included in the mod (Fallout 4/Data/F4SE/Plugins/PlayerFaceTargetFix.ini).

The plugin supports reading settings from a "Custom INI" (i.e. the optional higher priority PlayerFaceTargetFixCustom.ini).

(See optional files for pre-made custom INIs).

compatibility:

It should be compatible with any mod.

Install:

This is a code patch and can be installed and uninstalled at any time.

Prerequisites:

F4SE plug-in

F4SE address library

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
