It's been a while and now I'm back with my second weapon mod. Since my mod is trying to be legend-friendly, I reimagined the Pepper Shaker as an "Adaptive Heavy Shotgun" produced by West Tek. That's how it's named in the game, and the Pepper Shaker is a legendary variant in its own right. As with all my mods, I tried to maintain accuracy but put the gun in a sandbox. Custom animations were created, while Fallout 76 just used the minigun animation again. I created custom animations for the first person animations, although I did repurpose the minigun animation for a few third person animations.

So what's new or different about conventional weapons in Fallout 76?

Named "Adaptive Heavy Shotgun" to better suit the sandbox.

Less accurate, somewhere between a shotgun and a minigun, rather than just a direct minigun copy.

2 barrels are now the "standard" because I prefer four barrels for looks.

A wealth of optics: red dot, thermal imaging, short sights and more! I'm very happy with the look of the thermal scope and it behaves very similarly to the Tarkov.

3 new barrels: 3, 5 and 8 aka "Pepper Boxes". The pepperbox will shoot all your ammo and may or may not crash your game.

Multiple new ammo types (all given unique sounds): Cryo, Fire, Harpoon, Fusion, Needle, 50-gauge, Plasma Core

New miscellaneous accessories: armor plates, flashlight and traditional barbed wire.

Tiered list integration for multiple factions

Lots of different skins, Quantum Blaster made by my daughter. She sat at her desk and told me to make it "more purple" so you better be nice.

Now it's Gram and Charlie. Everyone's favorite super mutant purveyor will now roam the wasteland in search of meat and trade. He's a standard weapon and junk dealer like in Fallout 76, and will cycle throughout the map. He even stops at 7 different settlements looking for deals. He uses a small dialogue tree to explain why he is in the Commonwealth.

As always, the mod will be an ESL tag and won't take up load order space. There is currently no 3rd party mod integration, but I could always add AR2 at some point.

Graded list

I took a layered approach to hierarchical list integration. This gun starts out as a boss-specific weapon and then becomes more common as you level up.

Super Mutant Bosses Only You will get it starting at level 25, using only shotgun ammo

Super Mutant Minigunners will get it at level 30

Brotherhood gets it with laser ammo at level 35

Gunners gain it at level 35 using laser or plasma ammo

Raiders get it at level 35 using shotgun ammo

Each faction also has its own paints:

Raiders and Super Mutants with standard paint

Brotherhood will produce custom paint or factory new paint. They take care of their guns

Gunners will spawn with custom green paint, regular paint, or factory fresh paint

The module contains

7 barrel

4 grips

5 accelerator (similar gain to traditional barrel)

7 sights

7 magazines with different ammo types, integrated ammo (cryo, plasma, needle, etc.)

5 skins

8 receiver

new sounds

Prerequisites

ammunition. There are 3 ammo-based ammo types: Needle, 50 Cal Ball, and Plasma Core. They offer some unique variations, so I encourage you to use them.

By default, Graham is the special weapon and junk vendor, so anything added to these tier lists will show up. This means that most modded weapons will appear when you trade with him.

For any modders who want to add weapons directly to Grahm, there are two vendor lists. B21_VL_Vendor_Grahm will …

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
