Version 1.0.2
Minor hotfix to prevent a situation that could result in an NPC not being equipped with clothes if the person had leg armor.
NPCs Change Clothes is a very simple and lightweight mod that helps diversify the clothes worn by many NPCs in the game and simulate the fact that people usually change their clothes from time to time. Haven’t been to Diamond City in a while? The NPC has changed clothes since your last visit. The time between costume changes depends on cell resets, defaults to 7 days, and is controlled by the iHoursToRespawnCell game setting.
Randomization is achieved by using hierarchical list items for default outfits, and in many cases, specific items are defined. It won't touch companions or special characters with unique outfits, and since this only affects default outfits, it shouldn't cause any problems if you give your NPCs specific items to wear. Additionally, this does not involve vanilla level lists or NPC records for maximum compatibility, but will utilize many of the vanilla level lists, which may allow modded clothing to be pulled from them. Modify only the Outfit record, without using scripts.
compatibility
This is very compatible with mods that add new clothing items to the world, and NPCs will include clothing added to the vanilla level list. It will conflict with mods that also edit the Outfit records touched by this mod. Loading this mod after such a mod is usually an acceptable way to solve this problem.
Capital Wasteland Outfit Pack - Compatible, new clothes will be used by NPCs.
Capital Wasteland Outfit Pack Part II - Compatible, new clothes will be used by NPCs.
Diverse Wasteland - Compatible. The load order may change old clothes in different ways. There is some overlap with the Immersion Pack, but this may make some outfits more common than others.
Eli's Armor Compendium - EAC - Compatible, new clothes will be used by NPCs. I recommend skipping the NPC Addon optional files.
Enhanced vanilla armor and clothing - Compatible.
Fallout 3 and New Vegas Outfits - SPID Distribution - are not compatible.
Grease Rat Garbs - Compatible.
Merc Outfit Pack - Compatible, new clothes will be used by NPCs.
More Clothes and Textures - Compatible, new clothes will be used by NPCs.
Project Mojave Outfit Pack - Compatible, new clothes will be available for NPCs.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
