ESP tagged ESL.
No external requirements.
Version 1.5 requires dlc, version 1.4 is still available for standalone mines with optional dlc requirements.
This mod tweaks vanilla mines to make them usable by NPCs. I got the idea to do this while working on another mod called Faction Summon Grenades. While testing giving NPCs the ability to spawn other NPCs, I found that there are 4 main requirements for NPCs to use throwables of any kind:
- The animation type must be changed from "Mine" to "Grenade".
- The projectile itself must cause damage; the explosion itself is not important.
- The thrown object must be able to reach a long distance.
- If it has a destructive effect, it must be outside the explosion radius.
What did you do differently to make the mines usable back then?
I adjusted the projectile speed and animation type so that they would travel the actual grenade distance. This way NPCs can use them from any distance. Outdoors, they can act a bit like delayed explosives. Those at risk may disarm them in mid-air or upon landing. On doors I think they would shine the most. Since there is a cover with a group of people shooting, there are bound to be some thrown mines that will hit the door frame. Effectively booby-traps said door for the next time the player or companion walks into the room.
Manually adjusted the grenade tier list to add mines to the standard grenade tier list. Mines will be automatically deleted after 5 minutes to prevent entity spam.
Build level:
- Level 5 = Bear Trap/Caltrop.
- Level 13 = Explosive Mine.
- Level 15 = Bottle Cap Mine / Bleeding Bear Trap / Poisoned Caltrop.
Modified damages:
- Explosive Mine: Deals 225 ballistic damage and leaves a fire hazard for 15 seconds, reapplying the burning effect. The blast radius is 54 units smaller than all other mines. (94 people inside/446 people outside) The explosion was considered silent. (This doesn't really make sense, but that's what the wiki says
- Caltrops: Spawn at level 5. Now silent on invisible players. Deals 3 bleed damage for 5 seconds.
- Poisoned Kaltrops: Spawns at level 15. Deals 3 points of poison and bleed damage for 5 seconds.
- Bear Trap: Spawns at level 5. Now silent on invisible players.
- Bleeding Bear Trap: Spawns at level 15. Now silent on invisible players. Deals 5 bleed damage for 10 seconds.
- DLC grenades/mines value reduced to prevent "craft cheaper, sell more" bug.
- Talent requirements have been changed to match the vanilla grenade requirements for Downgrade Expert 2. The base version uniquely only requires level 1.
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
