Author's words:
What is this mod? Why should you use it when playing Northern Springs?
Jshrapnelc, the author of the book "Northern Spring", unfortunately passed away in 2022. He's one of my closest friends, so I decided to make a repaired/updated mod for his North Spring mod. My job is to fix CTDs, bugs, and correct grammar and typos in many notes and terminals. There's also some new content and some minor tweaks. - My mod is not a remake. I consider this an unofficial update and a maintenance project, true to the original vision of Jshraps.
BUG fixed:
- Restored navmeshes that were deleted (these were most likely deleted accidentally)
- Corrected incorrect texture sizes to prevent potential crashes
- A certain weapon causing a potential crash has been fixed
- The infamous dialogue locking bug has been fixed in all instances I can find
- Fixed many mission issues (such as finding Pete Cooper in Diamond City, etc.).
- Many weird terrain texture issues have been fixed, but not all (because Boreal Springs is very large)
- Many spelling and grammatical errors in terminals, comments and dialogues have been fixed
- (Under Optional Files) Female body texture mismatch was fixed by providing original female body textures as bulk files.
Changes/rebalancing:
- The damage output of some weapons has been adjusted to be closer to the weapon balance of Fallout 4
- The values of many items in Northern Springs have been adjusted to be closer to the economic level of Fallout 4
- Some food items have been rebalanced to be more similar to Fallout 4 food items
- Many conversations have a cooldown time of 4-8 hours
(Jshraps said in the live broadcast that he hopes that Beiquan will have the feel of the "Fallout 4" DLC. These changes try to make "Fallout" closer to the original version)
new content
- Terra, the florist outside Sanatogen, got voice acting and is now a serious businesswoman, selling flowers and mushrooms
- Cassandra Jones and Scott Flynn, residents of Orchard, get some voiceover dialogue
- Helen, the ghoul woman at Helen's farm, gets some voice-over dialogue
- Drunken Terry, the drunk in the orchard, gets some new dialogue
- New reward after completing the main mission of Beiquan: G2 prototype rifle
- Added new production recipe
- New
Loading interface 1.2 version plan:
- Sanatogan Inn services will reopen
- Settlement attacks in North Springs now work properly
- More dialogue and scene fixes
- More spelling and grammar fixes
- Added new lighting for unfinished or incorrectly lit interiors
- Adjust Beiquan weather type
Fog Value Vulnerabilities/Issues Currently Under Investigation:
- The radio station suddenly stopped broadcasting (see known issues for details)
- The North Springs main quest is sometimes impossible to advance unless you restart the game at a checkpoint
- Some side quests do not work properly and NPCs cannot initiate important conversations
- Some minor issues, as well as many ISU bugs and anomalies
In short: many critical issues in the original mod have been fixed with this patch. If you want a less buggy experience in Beiquan, my mod is a must-have. This fix mod is doable, but not all bugs/issues in North Springs …
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
