----

No Player Archetypes is a mod that removes two keywords in the Creation Kit that restrict player character animation: AnimArchetypePlayer and AnimFaceArchetypePlayer.

You may have noticed that the player character sometimes appears stiff, standing in a robotic posture, and maintaining a bland facial expression when idle or speaking, especially when the FaceArchetype preset is not applied to the conversation. This could even be seen as a subtle nod to the possibility of being a Synth, but without meaningful dialogue.

By removing these restrictions, players can now use animations typically reserved for NPCs, making conversations feel more natural. Players will react and move more dynamically during conversations, creating a more immersive experience. While this change is subtle, it enhances the vividness of player character interactions. You'll also have head tracking as the dialogue scenes take place.

**You will notice a new idle animation when loading into a new or current save. **

There are two versions of this mod, one of which includes the PowerArmorPreventArmorDamageKeyword, which prevents power armor from taking damage in combat if you wish.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
