In the original game, there were minimal signs of Strong's super mutant infestation. There are no military roadblocks covered in super mutant debris, either on the island or on the mainland's annex. There was little sign of change following the Brotherhood's subsequent reclamation. The impact of your first mission as a knight feels lacking.
The combination of a lack of impact on the world and frequent comments from random Brotherhood members about the epic battle at Fort Strong resulted in a jarring connection to the events of this mission. After Travis mentioned Strongburg for the fiftieth time, it started to get ridiculous. This is unacceptable. Your introduction to the fraternity shouldn't be reduced to a joke on the radio or an awkward comment thrown at you as you pass your comrades.
Now you can fight alongside Brotherhood Knights in power armor while non-birds fly overhead, in a scene that looks like Super Mutants have been around for a while. But be warned, by adding more Brotherhood troops, you can expect their presence to awaken equal numbers of various super mutants.
After clearing out the super mutants, the fortress was staffed with a detachment of soldiers. With most of the debris cleared, a functional outer settlement and helipad are available for your use to support the Brotherhood's efforts at the fortress. And to ensure that your mission at Fort Strong is successful, Elder Maxon has sent a special paladin who will introduce herself as a qualified companion and steward of the fortress instead of traveling with you.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
