Nightstrikers Update (Version 3.1): Now that Borous has finally been restored to being a good boy, I (Shadowliger) thought it was time for a voice overhaul. Sound changes:
-- Enemy Nightstriker encounter sounds have been completely replaced. I found the original sound too loud and quite annoying. The new one is softer, deeper, and (IMHO) more threatening. Yes, the hissing and tail-rattling sounds are still there, just not as "in your face" as before.
-- Borous also has a new ambient sound (his breathing). Found him to be really loud when traveling as a companion, his voice was short, repetitive and sounded really "fake". In its place are deeper (and quieter) ambient sounds. Also changed Borous to use the same footsteps file as Dogmeat since people said he "walked too loudly".
Nightstrikers update (version 3.0):
Various bug fixes, most importantly the Borous should now remain in the hut basement until discovered and recruited by the player, and no longer randomly pop up when traveling fast or through loading doors. Many thanks to mod author Gaz for his help in fixing various inefficiencies in some of these mods.
Install update (version 3.0):
Before uninstalling version 2.0, reclaim all items in Borous's inventory as you will need to re-recruit him. If you can't find Borous, whose reference ID is xx008f8c (xx is the number of Nightstrikers in your load order), use the moveto player console command instead of player.placeatme as this will create a duplicate.
If Borous is a companion, fire him to reach a settlement
Move to the inner cell (the one without Borous) and save your game
Exit the game and use your favorite Mod Manager to uninstall Nightstrikers
Reload into the game and create a clean save
Exit the game and install the Nightstrikers update
If a problem occurs because you failed to follow the instructions above, I can't help you.
This Mod appears due to two things:
The number of creatures to fight in Fallout 4 seems (at least to me) to have changed less than in previous titles
Nightcrawlers are my favorite creatures in Fallout New Vegas and I missed them in FO4
What this mod contains/does (short description, see long description for more details):
Introduced a new species of creatures to the Commonwealth called Nightstrikers, spiritually based on the Nightstalkers from Fallout New Vegas
Like their Mojave cousins, all Nightstriker variants deal damage and are immune to poison
Nightstrikers come in 5 variants, each with their own unique textures and abilities
Legendary versions of all 5 variants with their own unique mutation effects
4 new loot exclusive to Nightstrikers
3 new crafting recipes (2 Cooking, 1 Chemistry)
New unmarked location, providing some lore about the Nightstriker's origin(?)
Possible Nightstriker companions
Prerequisites Important Tips:
This mod requires the Far Harbor DLC, without which it will not work and may crash your game. Any requests to remove this requirement will be completely ignored, as the mod uses assets from this DLC.
Installation instructions:
Download using NMM or Mod Manager of your choice. If you want to install it manually, I assume you already know how to do this.
Uninstall instructions:
Better to use MO2, or open the Fallout 4 Data folder, go to Meshes, Textures, Materials, Sound->Voice/FX, Scripts, and delete any folders with Nightstriker in their names.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
