detail
See screenshots, but here are the notable changes:
Removed built-in "base armor" from all parts to better showcase the player's base armor
Light and medium limb models have the same appearance as heavy limb models (logical progression)
The upper arm sleeves were replaced with smaller straps used on the elbow/forearm pieces
Complete helmet redesign. Helmets now occupy the top hair, headband, eyes, and mouth bars (vanilla used top and bottom hair bars)
Install
Use a commonly used manager, download and install it
Overrides any mod containing metal armor models
Note: esp (marked ESL) ensures that the correct body slot is applied to the helmet, so make sure it is loaded after anything that may come into contact with the metal helmet record
If you're unsure, it's safe to load this mod lower in the loadlist
Since I (molerats, the original author, the same below) had to edit the records, I included the QoL edits in New Equipment Overhaul (NEO). This is not mandatory at all, but I highly recommend it

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
