describe
This standalone mod overhauls ToastyFresh's already stunning NCR Veteran Ranger armor to better fit the NCR Veteran Ranger's gunslinger fantasy and get closer to the original design from Fallout: New Vegas. Has attributes suitable for mid to late game characters.
New features
Overhaul model
- Jackets are now more stylish and have a more open front
- Pants more like those seen in New Vegas
- Shoes more reminiscent of boots from New Vegas
Overhaul
- Enhanced textures provided by Balebandr0
-Added more grit and wear to give the garment a more vibrant look
- Colors have been slightly changed to more closely resemble them seen in New Vegas.
Two versions
- "NCR Ranger Combat Armor (PIP BOY)" for those using a standard Pip-Boy
- "NCR Ranger Combat Armor", for those using Pip-Boy alternatives (e.g. Pip-Boy 2000, Pip-Pad), which restores the bracer on the left arm (see screenshot)
1.3 Added option to add ballistic cloth to armor and helmets.
How to get
It can be found on a lazily placed chest in Nick Valentine's office (Master Lock, both versions) or on a lazily placed table in Fallon's Department Store (non-Pip Boy version).

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
