About this mod Machine translation
This makes Nate a companion just like it says on the tin.
What this mod does:
Added Nate as voiceover companion
Add recruitment tasks
Disabling Nate's body in Vault 111 after he ascended and closed
Allows Nate to teleport in and out of the Institute with the player
Support customizing Nate; when you see him again, he'll get whatever appearance you give him in your charge
Fully implemented affinities (now including quest affinities) with dialogue and crush perks
Plus four main quest-related dialogues (after Kellogg's death, after building the teleporter, after meeting his father, and at the end of the main quest line)
Add session insert for Nate (AdditionalDialogue.esp)
Let Nate Dialogue Get Clues, Reunion, Dangerous Ideas, Institutionalization, Nuclear Option, and Nuclear Families (AdditionalDialogue.esp)
Removed vanilla game reference to Nate's death, for male PC, reference to wife has been changed to husband (AdditionalDialogue.esp)
Add custom affinity bumps in core options (AdditionalDialogue.esp)
What this mod doesn't do:
Gender-lock Nate to the female player character (but note that the male player character has no audio)
Add Nora as companion
V1.3 change log:
Fixed an issue where Nate's post-game dialogue would trigger multiple times
Added more ambient idle remarks
Change standalone compatibility version to require patch for base DualSurvivors.esp
Adjusts a line in Cold Calling if the player has completed the main quest
Added dialogue interjection for Nate (AdditionalDialogue.esp)
Adjusted dialogue so Nate will no longer be referred to as Death, and male PCs will refer to husband instead of wife (AdditionalDialogue.esp)
Added additional dialogue for Nate for clues, reunion, dangerous ideas, institutionalization, nuclear option, and nuclear family (AdditionalDialogue.esp)
Added custom affinity bump (AdditionalDialogue.esp) in core options
notes:
You can find Nate's holotape on the kitchen counter after talking to Codsworth. Reading any entry will trigger his quest. If you are using a compatible version, it will be generated in your inventory when you enter Sanctuary Hills. If the holotape does not generate, open the console and type 'help nate 4', find NOTE Nate's Journal and note its ID, then type 'player.additem <holotape ID> 1' (the ID changes between versions).
In terms of affinity, Nate enjoys being compassionate and helpful, sarcastic, modifying weapons and armor, collecting comics, helping with settlements, and healing Dogmeat (installing Everyone's Best Friend). He dislikes selfishness and rudeness, chemical use, chemical addiction, stealing, pickpocketing, picking his own locks, and refusing to help with settlements. He hates murder and cannibalism. You can support any faction without causing opposition.
If you are using a male player character, running an alternate launch mode, or using Sanctuary mods, I recommend downloading the compatibility patch. You don't need to change Nora to make Nate appear and he will have the default appearance. This version also does not disable spouse corpses due to conflicts with Start Me Up.
To change Nate's appearance (does not apply to compatibility patches), you need to change his templated actor first. Open the console and type "player.placeatme 000A7D34" (minus the quotes). This will produce the original Nate; still click on him in the console to get his refID and enter 'slm <refID> 1'. Modify it as needed, then open the console and type "disable". Now click on companion Nate and enter 'slm <refID> 1' (use companion Nate's refID, which changes between versions) and the changes will continue.
compatibility:
Any mod that modifies Vault 111 runs the risk of being incompatible with Dual Survivor. Some users are still reporting issues launching me. Some users have also reported compatibility issues with Unlimited Companion Framework.
AdditionalDialogue.esp modifies a large number of quests that may conflict with any mods that alter the same quests. For a complete list of …
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
