About this mod Machine translation
This mod brings a true ragdoll effect transformation to Fallout 4, finally replacing the game's notoriously stiff and unnatural death pose. By directly editing the core skeleton.hkx file, it introduces more flexible physical reactions for the player and all human NPCs.
Original address:
Prefix:
Ragdoll Physics - More realistic ragdoll death physics and corpse collision (optional but recommended):
describe:
Fallout 4 has long lacked a mod that truly overhauls Muppet physics. This modification addresses this issue by directly editing the parameters in the skeleton.hkx file, resulting in a more flexible, dynamic, and realistic death pose for the player and all human NPCs. Install like any other mod.
compatibility
I (the original author jeerx, the same below) have used thousands of modules, and it is compatible with almost any module and does not contain .esp plug-ins.
Safely install or uninstall during gameplay.
Supports any game version.
Modification tutorial
This process requires repackaging the skeleton.hkx file. You need hkxpack tool, link here:
- Prepare documents
Place hkxpack-cli.jar and skeleton.hkx on your desktop.
- Unpack for editing
Press Win + R, type cmd and press Enter to open the command prompt. Enter the following command (adjust the username path) and press Enter:
java -jar "C:\Users\YourUserName\Desktop\hkxpack-cli.jar" Unpack "C:\Users\YourUserName\Desktop\skeleton.hkx" 3.Repack
After editing and saving skeleton.xml, use this command in the command prompt to repackage:
java -jar “C:\Users\YourUserName\Desktop\hkxpack-cli.jar” pack “C:\Users\YourUserName\Desktop\skeleton.xml”
Final comments
My editor is not "perfect" - real physics is subjective and complex. You are encouraged to publish modified versions based on this method.
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
