Completely overhauled and expanded Diamond City's bounty system.
Original address:
Prefix:
Mechanical Legion DLC
Updated on June 6, 2026:
Version 1.04
Changed Synth Bounties so that they will not spawn if you are aligned with the Institute. This does not cancel existing bounties, so if you already have a bounty in your log, or a bounty on the board when you join, that bounty will remain there until you complete it.
Fixed an edge case where mods or quests that disable bounty targets could prevent you from completing the bounty. In this case, a new notification will appear in Diamond City canceling the bounty mission. (Thanks to ByteSix for pointing this out!)
Fixed an issue where notifications for canceling a bounty that could not be completed could be prevented from being displayed. This may result in these notes appearing after other bounty notifications.
Updated alternative activation prompt patch.
Optional Alternative Activation Prompts Patch file updated on December 10th:
Modified task handling to take into account that the "Take over" option in the alternative activation prompt will cause some tasks to fail due to not sending activation events when you take notes.
Updated on October 19th:
Version 1.03
Adjusted the impossible task cleanup handler to ensure all tasks are checked every time. Thanks again to blacktarprophecy for letting me know about this issue.
Version 1.02
Verified a bug in Bethesda's implementation that could prevent you from completing a bounty when clearing a location. Thanks to blacktarprophecy for saving and letting me verify and test this!
If you have a bounty from the [CLEARED] location, you can now claim a new notification in Diamond City to complete the bounty mission.
Version 1.01
Added Automatron as a requirement to prevent issues with General Atomics Factory.
Implemented a per-mission location blacklist to prevent troublesome locations from being set as bounty targets.
Implemented back-up measures for players with blacklisted location quests. Revisit Diamond City and you can receive a new notification to revoke the bounty and end the mission.
Blacklist Cutler's Bend from the Quagmire mission.
Blacklist General Atomics Plant from robotic missions.
Blacklist the Jalbert Brothers Disposal from the Children of Atom quest. (This location was already blocked, but now it uses a blacklist)
Blacklist Poseidon Energy from robotic missions. (This location was already blocked, but now it uses a blacklist)
Have you ever noticed that Diamond City's bounties are a little lackluster? You only get a few, and then the bulletin board is empty for the rest of the game. Even the bounties you get are forgettable at best. I decided I should do something. So I did.
Features
Made the three Diamond City bounties (Predator, Mad Ghoul, and Super Mutant) repeatable.
Added new repeatable bounties for the following enemy types: Mirecrabs, Bugs, Atomic Cultists, Moles, Gunslingers, Robots, Synths.
Added 7 new unique one-time bounty targets.
Adjusted bounty handling to allow up to four active bounties to be played at the same time.
Edited bounties to only target locations within the Federation map.
Marked as lightweight plugin (esl tagged esp) to minimize impact on load order.
FAQ
**How do I get started using this mod? **
Just install it! No configuration or special steps are required.
**Does this apply to existing archives? **
Yes, this works well in existing archives.
**If you set the bounty to be repeatable, why do I still run out? **
Repeatable bounties target uncleared locations with specific conditions. If you clear all valid targets, there will be no more bounties to be found until some locations reset.
**Is this compatible with other mods from Diamond City? **
Yes, this should work for mods editing this area. Some mods, like PRP, may require special load order considerations to prevent pre-combo issues. Generally, you want this mod to be as high in your load order as possible in order …
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
