About this mod Machine translation
A set of 5 new, listed-level swords, as well as an overhaul of the Swords of Revolution, designed to mostly fit in with Fallout 4's aesthetic and be powerful enough that they might be useful.
Prerequisite: Far Harbor DLC
Original address:
Brief introduction:
- Five (5) new one-handed swords.
- They are modular and quite powerful.
- Want them to be listed level (script injected for maximum compatibility).
- Primarily inspired by modern historical sabers and named primarily in the style of Bethesda, all designed to fit as closely as possible with FO4's original aesthetic.
- The Sword of Revolution has also been overhauled to match the new sword.
- Also a simple base damage buff for the Chinese Officer's Sword.
- And a little bonus for Machete so it's playable too.
Read in detail
First off - thanks to the recommendations from some awesome modders in the comments (i.e. DegenerateDak and 2gtandknives), I think I've figured out how to apply DankRafft's injector script, and now you should start finding these swords on enemies, at vendors, as rewards, etc., from level 5 (Army Cavalry Sword) to level 20 (Small Sword and Japanese Officer's Sword)!
Please let me know in the comments if this actually works!
Also, if something is broken or seriously imbalanced, please let me know in the comments! I'm still very inexperienced in making/releasing mods.
Secondly - the sword!
"Army Cavalry Sword"
I repaired the Sword of Revolution. I wouldn't even put 'fixed' in quotes, it's just better now. It has a series of blades that look like they can actually cut something. The grip/hilt looks more like a proper sword and it still has the rough look of an early American/Napoleonic common soldier's sword. You can even personalize it to resemble your commander by wrapping the grip in rubber, polishing the handle, or replacing it with shiny brass.
"Officer's Sword"
Imagine that the US military was still using swords in 2077 (since they were still in use until WWI IRL, and apparently the in-game China is using them in 2077) - the commander's sword would have a fancier hilt and a higher quality blade than their troops. Just like during the Civil War, many swords were imported from Europe, where some of the greatest sword designers and manufacturers still supply the world. This would be one of those imports, as it is apparently a 1796 British Hussars saber hilt that has been modified to look a little sturdier. You'll notice that the "Curved" and "Balanced" blades are also 1796 blades, the latter being very deformed. Multiple blade options, brass or steel handles, two grip colors.
"Navy Officer's Sword"
My personal favorite kind of sword - the kind I've wanted in a Bethesda game since that scimitar sword in Oblivion. This is a model imported from Kingy's Sketchfab (btw, this guy does incredible work, so much respect, I'll link to their page), severely warped into a completely different shape. It now looks more like a US Army knife, and since it's more basket-like than the guard of an "Army" officer's sword, I decided to classify this as a "Navy" issue. Same blade/hilt options as the Army Officer Sword, but with more grip options.
"Air Force Officer's Sword"
Two inspirations here - those IRL modern ceremonial sabers with their tiny cross-shaped hilts and elongated straight blades, and "Hey, what if I copied the back feather of the 1796 saber, put it on the front, and removed the knuckle bow so that it was almost like a Mamluk-style saber? Now you get the idea. Originally meant to be an experiment, but I kind of like it for the sake of variety, and hey, we don't want the third member of America's favorite military trio to feel left out, so - "Air Force". It's basically just the Army Officer Sword with a slightly different hilt and default blade.
"Japanese Officer's Sword"
This one had two different inspirations - those IRL "shin gunto" Japanese military swords with factory-printed blades and grips, and the ran …
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
