Author's words:
For many people, adjusting hundreds of settings in a powerful set of tools like PRC-X is intimidating.
I've made this for you, so you can edit your mod list directly, or dive into the game.
My presets for Fallout 4 were edited from scratch using l00ping's amazing PRC X Advanced framework.
Rather than simply editing an already existing preset to my liking, I started from scratch and built everything layer by layer until I was happy with it.
I strived to deliver a clean and cinematic preset that completely changes lighting, shadows, ambient occlusion, lenses, and color grading to give your next playthrough a fresh paint feel.
I strived for an overall look and feel where on those rare occasions when the weather is clear you'll be treated to a warm, slightly saturated blue sky to help contrast with the usual dark/dreary and desaturated wasteland.
I've included 2 options - LIGHT and MAX.LIGHT:
I've rejected and/or disabled some of the more laborious settings. If you want a simple color grade, I recommend using this and making some very simple adjustments to improve the color balance.
Optimized for ~5% MAX overall FPS on low-end PC: everything turned on and cranked to max. This is the one I'm running, as seen in the screenshot on RTX 3080 @ 2550x1440. It's easy to exceed 60fps in the vast majority of cases, but can sometimes drop off in Boston, even with all the fixes. Optimized for ~15-20% overall FPS on high-end PCs.
Install:
- Download the latest Enb binaries and put only d3d11.dll and d3dcompiler_46e.dll into the Fallout 4 main folder where the game.exe is.
- Get PRC X Advanced Framework and delete all files where the game .exe and ENB binaries are.
- Place all files from the LIGHT or MAX version into your Fallout 4 main folder where the game's .exe and Enb binaries are - overwritten.
- Enjoy the greatness!
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
