About this mod Machine translation
- This is the brother of Compact Crafting, which adds a compact crafting workstation to the workshop! Go check it out! -
After spending too much time in the game and leveling up, hiking to a solution mid-map just to put a silencer on a gun, or lugging a bunch of tabletop fans and Giddy Up Buttercup Legs just to scrap a few screws in them starts to lose its charm, especially in survival mode where carrying weight is at a premium and fast travel is disabled.
Mobile Mechanic adds a removable portable workbench with new meshes and textures that allow you to do any type of crafting anywhere, including the ability to scrap junk into its core components so you don't have to tear through a heavy pile of junk. It also includes a portable Power Armor workbench! The Sole Survivor can craft mechanical turrets and various other high-tech gadgets, so I don't think it's unreasonable not to believe they can use a screwdriver!
This is all done by players only being able to craft things in their inventory using resources or models, and the workbench itself and the extra required crafting kits all have a certain weight to them, forcing you to be aware of the fact that you're running out to balance all your weight.
As a bonus, I've included some updated welding goggles and welding masks that were accessories for some vanilla outfits but can now actually be worn on their own. ~ITIMERSION LEVELS INTENSIFY~
FlaconOil's HD ReTexture project includes Diagnostic Cart Rebuild! Thank you, FlaconOil.
This video presentation will tell you most of what you need to know (but read the instructions too!)
•Install master files. No requirements. There should be no conflicts as everything is independent.
•Download the optional performance textures if needed and overwrite textures.ba2 when prompted
- All clutter on the bench will use whatever texture replacer (or vanilla texture) you have installed. Only the table/stool body has new textures (and the diagnostic workbench.)
This is still considered a beta. It doesn't do anything dangerous or weird with saves, but some users have some unexpected behavior with certain features due to script lag (i.e. garbage scrapping). I'm redesigning the code to account for this problem. This is not a personal attack on your rig specs or anything, loading lots of mods and running scripts in low fps areas could be factors. If you don't encounter these problems, then you're good to go. Thank you for your patience! It works for most people, the technical reason is just that a papyrus thread race condition can occur.
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
