About this mod Machine translation
Modified, overhauled, added and rebalanced turrets!
I'm pleased with the lack of variety in the vanilla turret selection. The machine gun turrets themselves are pretty weak, and the missile turrets are annoying when built as a whole. The laser turrets are nice but lack variety. I had just started using minigun turrets and thought "Hey, this is kinda cool, what else can I add?" Turns out, quite a bit!
Since 0.5, PERK requirements were moved to optional files.
Gauss Turrets and Assault Lasers/Plasma are heavy hitters but fire slowly. Cannon turrets are also slow, but can hit targets slightly within line of sight due to their arc.
Flamer and Cryo turrets are obviously close range. Everything else will work over a fairly long range, but their actual effect within that range may vary.
Most turret types require 5 power and provide 16 defense levels, except for the Heavy Assault Laser, which requires 10 power. In addition to the normal components, you will also need a small amount of ammunition associated with each turret to build (cannonballs for cannonballs, railway spikes for railway turrets, etc.). The Heavy Assault Laser also requires 2 Fusion Cores.
Gamma ray turrets function like gamma guns. Good for killing attackers, not so good for killing super mutants.
Although the Heavy Assault Laser uses the same laser as the Liberty Prime laser for its impact effects, the stats themselves are also customizable. I do this mainly to prevent them from melting the behemoth in one hit. Having said that, they can still do a world of hurt.
Cryobeam Turret has a chance to freeze and/or knock down enemies on impact. It deals very little damage compared to other turrets, but has a small splash radius, making it great for crowd control. Based on chuckdm's suggestion.
The Chaingun Turret fires a high-explosive bomb, which is very effective against weaker groups of enemies.
Automatic grenade launchers come in 3 different types: high explosive, incendiary and plasma. The turret AI doesn't know what "friendly fire" means so be careful with these!
Double-Barrel Shotgun Turrets are very effective at close range and, unlike vanilla shotgun turrets, do not attempt to snipe enemies.
Sniper gun turrets are slow, accurate, and powerful.
Pipe turrets are cheap and flimsy, but can be easily built centrally and require only wireless power.
This will completely modify zero existing content, so it should not conflict with other mods. You can find them in the same defense category as vanilla turrets.
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
