Across the Commonwealth, whispered legends herald an abomination of unparalleled proportions. The Titan's silhouette, scarred by the bright storm of the Glowing Sea, is just a cautionary tale to keep the young and reckless away from what should be obvious danger...right?

No, legends often spring from reality, and that's true recently, as just a year ago in the depths of winter, a luminary of unprecedented size appeared, Dawn, the result of an old world machine buried deep within the Whatley Research Facility in the Glowing Sea, where she roamed the sea, devouring any source of radiation she could find, consuming smaller luminaries to grow larger. The giant creature was thought to have been killed, but its remains revealed a horde of beasts.

Whether attracted by the vast radiation or something deeper, beasts across the ocean are conquered. Curling against the glowing flesh, being pulled in.

Swallowed by the festering wreckage, becoming something new, something bigger.

The few travelers and caravans who approach the southern Glowing Sea tell tales of shadows of unimaginable size, and of hordes of feral ghouls. Known as the "Maypole" because the way the beast circles around it resembles an Old World tradition, few people have seen the shadow and lived to tell the tale. Because while this ridiculous concoction remains in the glowing sea, seemingly dormant, it's still quite a threat to anyone foolish enough to get close.

Located just north of the Sentinel Site, this titan presents a formidable challenge to anyone who dares to challenge it. I tried to keep it reasonably "balanced", but there's only so much you can do to "balance" a creature of this size, so think of it as a good test to prove the power of your best equipment and companions. Crowd control and ranged DPS in particular are key, as Maypole's Stomps are so powerful that they can squash you even through power armor. However, at a distance, the Maypole fires clusters of radioactive flesh, leaving behind hordes of beasts. Therefore, a balance must be struck between fighting the treasure while still damaging the maypole.

Maypoles have low armor but high health. This may take a while.

Defeating the Maypole will yield some powerful equipment. Namely, a unique melee weapon that transforms enemies into friendly glowing foes, and a suit of power armor that deals heavy boons when exposed to radiation. As well as a small set of decorations to help your settlement become nice and festive on May Day, they are in the miscellaneous decorations and floor decoration categories once you get the blueprint from the Maypole.

However, you can't really defeat the maypole because, by the will of atoms (or an overdose of mutagenic compounds and radiation), the maypole will regenerate after a few days, again

Haunted Wilderness Look! One of the more lore-friendly mods I've made. It's by no means perfect, but I tried my best. There will inevitably be issues with creatures of this size, mainly getting stuck on the terrain and spawning so many ghouls that things become glitchy, but it should be mostly functional. If anyone knows how to get rid of the "Charge Attack" it's running in place in a stupid way, please let me know and I'll try to fix it, in the end it's just a Behemoth animation set.

For extra fun, use mods that add new types of Ferals. Children Of Ug-Qualtoth is a good example of some extra confusion.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
