Preface
I (the original author smzhfyh, the same below) recently re-downloaded some games based on the Origin engine to bring back my childhood memories again, and this Day of Victory: Origin, an excellent World War II-themed shooter forgotten in history, is a true classic with its unique and enduring appeal, as well as the Steam creative modding community of nearly 25 years. Also, I'm glad to see some people are still playing this game (especially in my country, it seems like both of us are deeply touched by the culture of the 2000s, eg: Band of Brothers, Saving Private Ryan, etc., but a lot of them were born almost 20 years before me, haha, I love these old people)
Include
This SFX mod contains the following sound file replacements from Victory Day Origins:
Garand fire sound effects
Garand reload and eject clip sound effects
Garand running sound effects
100% lo-fi.
All audio assets are made by Valve and never count towards 3, I don't own them, I just upload them as mods for community and personal use.
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
