When the Sino-American war expanded into the Western Pacific, the LVTP-8A became a reliable workhorse in amphibious operations. The amphibious armored personnel carrier was developed for the U.S. Marine Corps before the outbreak of the Sino-American War. The Army and Marine Corps used the vehicle during the siege of Shanghai from the Philippine Islands of Bohol to mainland China. The APC is capable of carrying a squad of Marines or a small force of power armor. This vehicle was used with good effect by soldiers of the 5th Infantry at Mambajao. The 8A variant of the LVTP is fission powered to avoid supply issues with conventional engines. The LVTP-8A's main disadvantages were its lack of significant offensive armament and its slow speed compared to earlier models. Despite these limitations, the vehicle's ruggedness and reliability have made it a favorite with Marines and amphibious power armor units. Some units can be found in the Federation and may be restored to working order by a suitable mechanic.
