Enables Neanka's LevelUpMenuEx additional features such as skill tree support, SPECIAL menus, skill legendization, higher skill caps, and additional external events.

This mod now supports all skill systems and nodes are automatically generated. Correct node implementation (connecting talent nodes) requires the efforts of the skill system author.

For mod users:

You only need to download this mod if another modder needs it.

I'll say it again: you should not install this mod unless asked to do so by the mod author.

The S7 skill system (0.9+BETA) now requires this.

For the skill tree to work properly:

  • Mod authors must set it up correctly
  • You (yes, the user) must ensure that the skill system loads late and that conflict resolution is performed correctly. If you don’t know how to operate it, you can go to Discord to ask for help with mods.

List of new features (for reference by mod authors):

Skill tree support

  • Visualized skill tree
  • Talent nodes need to unlock the previous talent node to access (customized anti-virus software is no longer required as a talent requirement)

-Supports mouse and keyboard/handle for skill tree navigation

  • Skill tree zoom/zoom and drag skill tree

Legendary skill support

Special promotion menu

Custom skill cap

Exposes various external events for the LevelUpMenuEx event.

All new features support gamepads.

These are useful to moderator users

It's no use. Must be used by modders in their skill systems.

Check the mod requirements to see if any skill systems support this functionality.

Additional information for modders

Existing skill systems can also be used together. They automatically generate nodes based on skill requirements. The same talent can appear in different skill trees.

Setting up skill trees takes some work. I recommend watching the demo plugins and reading the published articles to learn how to make them.

See the Articles tab to learn how to set up the skill system to use skill trees.

See the Papyrus source files to find documented code for new external events and functionality available for LevelUpMenu.

After reading the article check out the demo plugin to see examples of it in action. Be sure to disable other skill systems when trying out the demo plugin!

External events are provided when skills are upgraded in the menu, when skills are marked/untagged, when the tag menu is closed, when skills are legendary, when SPECIAL points are used in the new SPECIAL menu, and when talents are acquired.

Papyrus features include setting skill caps, activating skill legendaryization, and setting special caps for custom special menus

FAQ

Q: Why does this mod have ESL plug-ins and BA2 files?

Answer: The bottom line of this mod requires that if you want to take advantage of the skill tree function, you need to add an extra level to each talent. The ESL plugin loads a task that checks when the Pipboy menu is open, and then loads a custom SWF in the Pipboy menu to hide the extra rankings. BA2's archive loads a custom PipboyMenu.swf, allowing me to register certain PipboyMenu events via the custom swf. To avoid conflicts, PipboyMenu.swf is loaded into the archive, so the loose file wins the conflict. For example, FallUI will win the conflict, which is no problem because it contains the same modifications as my custom PipboyMenu.swf.

Q: Why is it so complicated to set up?

Answer: I only have permission to edit LevelUpMenuEx as long as LevelUpMenuEx is still needed. Therefore, I cannot modify the F4SE plugin and compile it myself because that wo …

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
