Just some curtains and rods

If you feel that decorating your settlement will become boring after a while, here is a new challenge for you - curtains and rods. The decoration is overkill.

Update v2a:

First and foremost:

Many thanks to Ethreon for all your help, knowledge and patience. One of the nicest guys around. Without him, this update would not be possible.

Ethreon--my mesh god--is so beautiful and has redesigned curtain mesh, including straight and curved curtains. Now, the curved curtains will finally have a proper collision and when you place them on the first floor, there will no longer be invisible walls on the upper floors. The rods hug the ceiling, and the curtains are almost user-friendly now (but that doesn't change Place Everywhere's recommendations).

I also added new texture to the curtain rods, they now have a pattern on the front. The reason is that after placing and rotating the rod I was layered to check if the rod had the correct orientation. See it clearly now.

Notice:

All curtains placed before Will will need to be adjusted again due to different grids and connection points. Not as bad as before, but still necessary.

So I made the updates as separate files. If you don't want to have to do all the work again, you can update the mod when starting a new game.

Or you can give it a try. If you don't like it but want awesome new textures, just overwrite the mesh and esp with the old v2 mesh and esp from v2a.

It's not all perfect and easy to use, and if you want to use this mod I highly recommend it everywhere - otherwise you won't have much fun with it. But beware, even Place Everywhere's elegant curtains and rods can be tricky to handle. The easiest way is to just use straight curtains - no rods, no pain. Nothing fun. There is no victory.

Some tips on how to decorate your house with curtains and rods as stress-free as possible:

1.Always use a mod like Everywhere Place or Precise Object Movement (I prefer PE for builds).

The curtain rod needs to be placed below the "visible" ceiling since the "real" ceiling box (?) is located lower. For example, if you have a wooden roof, you should place the poles at the level of the exterior girders. Doing this, the curtains will have no problem at all with the rod (see screenshot) If you want to attach them all to the ceiling, move them over it after you have arranged them the way you like. But you are also free to place curtains and rods, which is a bit more work but doable.

  • If you don't want to use a kinematic model at all or don't want to put stress on yourself with a curtain rod, you can use the curtains "as is". Easier to handle, but less satisfying.

"Elegant Curtains" are Memory Den Curtains. I tried my best to get rid of the huge hitbox but with no success at all. So if you place one of these curtains in the middle of a first floor room, you will bounce off the invisible wall on the second floor. If anyone knows how to solve this problem, he/she is most welcome. Straight curtains don’t have this problem.

  • If you have old mod v1 running uninstall it and then install the new version. I made some changes to the file structure, but this will not affect any curtains built with older versions, they will still remain in your game.

You will find curtains and rods in Decoration - Wall Decoration - Miscellaneous - Menu.

I was asked if there would be dirty curtains this time. To be honest, I'm reluctant to make dirty versions because I use my hard earned resources to build these things. I'm not going to pick up some old curtains (or rugs) in some scrap and put them on my quarters just to have something around. When I build something, I build something new and beautiful. But never say never, if more people ask for more dirt - maybe.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
