About this mod Machine translation
Similar to the Guard Dialogue overhaul in Skyrim, this mod is designed to improve the immersion of universal dialogue. It modifies the conditions and frequency of many common dialogues.
The biggest features:
Your reputation depends on your conduct and how well you manage the settlement. If you have given your employees what they need, you will gain their respect and trust; if not, they will start to resent you and show it through words. If you've done something important or are helping a specific organization, people may praise and adore you, or fear and avoid you. Your character will now have a decisive impact on your experience with others in the game.
As the leader of the militia and administrator of the settlement, you should be respected, or at least treated as a friend, while the settlers are content with their living conditions. It makes no sense for settlers to treat you as an outsider, even if they know you and are happy with their home.
In this mod I removed one-way dialogues as well as added new dialogues corresponding respectively to the conditions of the settlement (mainly happiness), your relationship with certain characters and completing certain tasks. Now, settlers will be more grateful to you if you make the settlement a decent place, but won't be rude to you; guards will be more respectful if you do something important.
Additionally, I fixed a few issues (or at least I considered them "issues") regarding triggering certain dialogues. Now, settlers don't harp on the Abernathy tragedy, which is quickly becoming old news, and they don't "want the Minutemen back" when the Minutemen have already returned.
I changed more lines than I've mentioned, including generic lines for BOS, Institute scientists, settlers, guards, and more. Please feel free to find them and report any issues/bugs/problems you find regarding generic dialogue (settlers, guards, institute scientists, etc.). I'll be more than happy to fix or improve them.
This mod does not touch scripts or world data, so it is absolutely safe to use.
I plan to expand on these lines in the future and even cut and edit some to add variety to the conversation.
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
