About this mod Machine translation
Several options for high-pitched adjustments to the base heroine's voice.
This mode attempts to account for the fact that the voice of the actress chosen for the protagonist in the UK version of Fallout 4 lies deep in the global female voice (160-280 Hz) range (around 160 Hz). Aside from the simple fact that the voice is low - much lower than the female voice used in Fallout 3, for example - this significantly hinders one's ability to act like a middle-aged person.
Note: I should point out that this mod is marked "English", which means it is for the English version of Fallout 4 and will result in English dialogue if used. To make this mod available for other languages, new versions must be created for those languages.
Other languages: Japanese, French, German, Spanish.
A deeper heroine voice here.
The male protagonist's voice pattern: deeper, higher.
Backing Sound Modes: Curie, Piper, Cait (Higher), Cait (Deeper), Strong, Preston, X6-88.
Other voice modes: Girl, Super Mutant.
Other audio modules: IMPACTFUL NUKES.
Voice type:
Summary: There are basically two types of speech types below - types where the pitch/formant adjustments are the same, and types where they are not. When the adjustments are equal, the speech can be considered to be virtually undistorted. Otherwise, there will be some audible distortion in the varying (and specified) amounts.
Voice type A1:
Pitch rose 19% and Republicans gained 6%. This used to be what I used (now I use Type D1 or Type B). The voice sounds a bit high and a bit young.
Pro: Auditory distortion is relatively small.
The con: Ultimately not a huge change for the course.
Voice type A2:
Pitch rose 6% and Republicans gained 6%. A slightly higher voice, sounding a little younger. Mainly consists of making sure there is as little distortion as possible while also providing at least some improvements but minimal options.
Pro: Basically zero audible distortion.
The con: Almost nothing changes on the pitch.
Voice type A3:
Pitch rose 3% and Republicans gained 3%. A very, very slightly higher voice sounds younger. Basically the midpoint between Type A2 and Default Voice. The actual modifications may be too subtle to reveal in individual conversations; people will just have to give it a try to see if it suits their needs.
Pro: Basically zero audible distortion.
The con: Almost nothing changes on the pitch.
Voice type B:
Pitch is up 9% and Republicans are up 9%. A formant rise of this magnitude means that the sound is significantly younger than the original sound, although the increase in pitch is small.
Pro: Basically zero audible distortion.
Con: Little change in pitch. Being a straight up pitch shift, it's like I feel like it could be eliminated without making the protagonist's voice too "helium"-artificial.
Voice type C:
Pitch rose 19%, Formant unchanged. The voice sounds a bit high, but basically the same age.
Pro: Sound distortion is not excessive.
Con: There's still not much change on the court. That's about as far as I can push the process before I get too much distortion in the batch conversion, but there's definitely more distortion here.
Voice type U1:
Pitch increased by 50%, formant unchanged. The sound is quite high, putting it in line with the world's average sound frequencies, but theoretically sounds the same age.
Major: Great variation in pitch.
Con: Considerable audible distortion, probably unusable, hence the "U". Please use it at your own discretion!
Voice type U2:
Pitch is up 50% and Republicans are up 9%. The sound is quite high, bringing it in line with the world's average sound frequency, and also sounds younger.
Major: Great variation in pitch.
Con: The greatest distortion of the available choices, probably unusable, hence the "U". Please use it at your own discretion!
Please read the disclaimer regarding the remaining sound types:
The whole point of going beyond the 9% formant is to push for a younger sound. These voice modifications are probably overkill for …
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
