If you are using an older version of the mod (less than version 1.5), you must completely uninstall the old version and make a clean save before installing this update. Version 1.5 has been technically overhauled, optimized, and built from scratch with a completely sanitized file structure to ensure game stability.
describe:
The Ghost Fortress is the perfect companion to a quiet morning coffee. The mod provides a unique "slow-paced gaming" experience that focuses on deep immersion and narrative rather than endless combat. Enter the private bunker of Markus Meridius, a Polish IT specialist from Vault-Tec, as he and his loyal companions, Jones the cat and Trudy, a robot suffering from digital dementia, outwit the company. It's a backstory lover's dream. Get ready for hours of gripping storytelling, uncovering secrets that should have been permanently deleted.
What’s waiting for you inside:
Stolen Corporate Secrets: Hidden Vault-Tec archives, government conspiracies, and the dark truth behind corporate experiments.
Grand Narrative: From a brief technical log to 7 detailed chapters, it records an epic adventure on the East Coast.
Canned Food: Unlock 12 unique craftable canned foods for use in your settlement.
Life in the Wasteland: A personal diary filled with humor and practical apocalyptic cooking recipes you can really use.
Explore Missions: Custom scripted missions and challenges that reward in-depth investigation.
Visual and technical overhaul: more than 370+ custom textures, unique usable props and interactive mini-games.
Expanded Backstory: Delve into the untold history of the Fallout universe, complete with Easter eggs.
A Unique Team: Experience the daily struggles of a talented immigrant, his cat, and a robot with a memory glitch.
Additional information:
The visual aspect of the wasteland can be... bland. Without proper graphics support, the bunker interior cannot fully convey the intended atmosphere, so I highly recommend installing additional graphics mods such as REACTOR - FALLOUT4 ENB and Crows And Creatures (remember to set the cat to the Tabby version). It's like the difference between a regular room and a real doomsday hideout. I've also included a link to my full collection so you can see what I'm using: Collection
Great news for console players! - Ghost Fortress version 1.5 has officially landed on Xbox! You can now download and play the mod directly from the in-game "Create" menu on your Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S console. Just search "Ghost Fortress" in the game and enjoy it!
How to get started:
After loading the save, you will receive a map marker. Check out the mod gallery to see screenshots of the entrance.
Be careful with automatic defense systems - they are still very active and hostile to intruders. Don't get evaporated!
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
