1.Premise
Inspired by Metro 2033, this mod implements a new resource, the gas mask filter. Human NPCs and players are required to wear gas masks when wandering the outer wasteland areas. When equipped, a gas mask consumes filters to prevent harmful radiation from clinging to dust particles in the air. The filter protects against extensive radiation exposure and comes with a functional gas mask. The power armor acts as a gas mask, not consuming the filter but expelling the fusion core.
2.Features
There is a setting for holotape. Almost any feature of this mod, including features not specified there, can be disabled/enabled via the holotape menu.
Humans wear gas masks in outside areas (normal version) or equip them when precipitation starts (previous
cipitation version)
There are some exempt factions: Children of the Atom (because they love radiation), Ghouls (healed from radiation), Synths (3rd generation or unless they are undercover), and some unique NPC gas masks that I think are too "excellent",
If they are not equipped with a gas mask, or have a filter in the world region (Commonwealth, Goodneighbor, Diamond City, etc.), humans will take scaling radiation damage per second,
NPC personnel will remove gas masks on location changes if they enter interior areas (normal version) or remove them when the weather is clear (precipitation/rad weather version).
Destructible gas mask with degraded glass covering.
Visual/sound effects play when player: no gas mask, gas mask equipped, gas mask filter replaced, or gas mask damaged.
SFX audio slider in the main audio menu.

Hud Framework This is required if you want to have hud elements
5.Compatibility
There are no obvious compatibility issues, but there may be some strange interactions.
6.Installation
If you have previous version: Uninstall main and all Optional files.
We have an installer for NMM users.
manual
The core file goes into "(...)Steam\SteamApps\common\Fallout 4\Data"
Data files include optional esp files, which go into "(...)Steam\SteamApps\common\Fallout 4\Data"

- Recommended Mod loading order (in order):
Keep Wasteland's Gas Mask low in your order. Don't use LOOT. LOOT sets this mod to high priority in the load order, which often causes problems.
Main business: Gas masks in the wasteland
Optional file/weather module
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
