Free weapon "downgrade"
I'm pissed because I can "unlock" a piece of leather armor, or somehow strip the paint off metal armor, and still have the original armor and the fancy mods it carries, but when it comes to weapons, I have to go hunting for parts just to get the silencer off a pistol (you can usually do that with bare hands, no tools IRL), or get the silencer off a low barrel pistol (seriously? Is there any? Just a screw to hold it in...)
This mod removes all of that - if you extract the upgrade parts from the weapon then you can do so for free, you just need to downgrade the parts to whatever "standard" mod fits that mod slot.
Part of the reason I built this model was so I could "take apart" all the weapons we looted - we sat on a machining bench at a gas station, and inside of it was an atomic cart specifically for remachining parts...I figured if it could handle an atomic cart, then it might have all the little screwdrivers and pliers needed to remove a 10mm pistol or assault rifle, and I didn't need a small amount of spare steel to do that. I just needed spare glue and springs to upgrade the gun, but in order to strip it down to the drill, there wasn't really any requirement for it.
If I were personally sitting on a "repair bench" with a six barrel pistol and a rifle that I was breaking down into a good high end gun (from that good scope I just found, the calibrated receiver from the one I got from Olivia on that Marauder, that suppressor I picked up from a vendor, and my old one that had a good grip) I really wasn't going to take them all apart, put it on my new gun, and then rebuild them with what was left - I'll be building my new trick gun, then I'll put all the useful spare bits in a box labeled "Pipe Pistol parts" and then the leftovers will be melted down into "steel" to be used in building settlements... If it's a couple of Gatlings I'm using then I'll most likely be building new ones and putting any pieces back together when I can and vendor gore or give it a powerful mole to shoot when he's bored - Anyway, I can't think of a reason why I'd really want a second One, especially considering the weight.
With fairly limited exceptions, we don't have much reason to carry more than 2 of any particular weapon "type", especially later in the game - we'll build specific weapons for specific purposes, and everything else goes to the scrap heap or is sold.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
