About this mod Machine translation

This mod solves the old problem of useless junk fences with large gaps between them. I made the fences 5% larger and added a bunch of different snapping nodes to them. All fences and large guardrails now have 2 snap nodes for other walls (junk fences or normal walls) with 2 different heights on each side. This way you can compensate for small height differences in the ground. If you want to make a smooth curve, you can use two thicker pieces of junk fence to make a 30° curve.

The following wall types also have snap nodes for floors:

The straight fence has 4 snap nodes and is suitable for 2 floors of different heights. While the upper is suitable for turret placement, the lower is perfect for finding cover behind a wall.

A 90° angle is basically the same as a straight fence. The only difference is that it has 6 snap nodes for the floor instead of 4, so your walkways can be turned around too.

Doorways only have upper snap nodes, since there's not much point in blocking the door with a lower one.

This change will affect all vanilla fences anywhere in the game (even those in raider camps). I don't think 5% would have such a huge impact on them, so you probably won't notice.

All fences and guard towers you have placed in settlements will automatically update.

enjoy your meal!

How to install

Unzip the downloaded zip file.

Copy the contents to the Data folder in your Fallout 4 installation directory.

Activate BetterJunkFences.esp in your favorite mod manager.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
