About this mod Machine translation
V2.1
Adjusted the light sources used in bonfires, lanterns and candles available in the Wasteland Workshop DLC
V2.0
Separate lights were created for oil lamps, burning barrels, and lighting mist so they can be adjusted independently (in vanilla, most of these objects share the same light source as the fire, so they cannot be adjusted independently).
Replaced the oil light source in the package with a new custom one.
Replace the light source on the combustion barrel with a new custom one.
Replaced light sources on glowing fog with new custom fog.
Adjusted the light color, radius and flicker effects of the fire, oil lamp and burning barrel. The light is now slightly lower than v1 of this mod.
The oil lamp's new light radius is 128. The burning barrel's radius is 384. The large fire's light radius is 512. The vanilla for all objects is 256. Glowing mist preserved in vanilla.
In vanilla, most oil lamps, burning barrels, large fires, and even "glowing fog" have the same lighting settings. This means you can't adjust the light emissivity of these objects independently - so it's not very realistic for a large campfire to have the same light intensity and radius as a small oil lamp. In version 2 of this model, I created new lamps and isolated most of the oil lamp, burning barrel, fire and lighting mist so that they had their own independent light source.
Fallout 4 features flashing light effects. However, many light settings are so subtle that the flickering effect is difficult to detect. This mod enhances the commonly used vanilla flickering flame lighting, including burning barrels and oil lamps, adjusting their radius, giving them a deeper orange color, and intensifying the flickering effect to make it more attractive. It also adds the sound of burning fire to some otherwise silent fires. The exterior of the Saugus Iron Works is a great place to see the enhancements to this model. The vanilla burning pile is very dull and silent despite its size, while the vanilla burning metal bucket has almost no flicker.
This is a very simple mod. There are no scripts, no special installation or uninstallation instructions.
Sometimes, due to a glitch in the game engine, some lights won't flash as expected - this happens on vanilla too, so it's not caused by my mod. Exiting the desktop and reloading the save usually resolves this issue.
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
