Version 1.4 updated on April 7, 2025:
Some minor adjustments have been made to the impact sound of the flamethrower.
Updated to version 1.3 on January 25th: ESL markup - with a few more tweaks, I think it’s almost there.
Update 1.2 January 22nd: ESL Marking - Further adjustments to sound level and distance fades, as well as new limb explosion sounds and sound models. You can hear the sound of exploding limbs from further away, now repackaged and uploaded.

Remember Kenny from RoboCop? ;)
In the original Fallout, shooting at enemies felt like punching paper. I (original author zeninc09, the same below) made this mod as some kind of unofficial add-on for Giammotto's Bullet Impact Overhaul.
I've played mods like Simple Impact in the past, which were really cool, but the sound of hits always felt disjointed and like a layer of sound on top of the game to me. Therefore, I added new impact sounds and modified how they play in the game. I also increased the volume of the weapons slightly (weapons always sounded too low for my taste).
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
