This is a full implementation of the ammo subtype in Fallout 4. Powered by the Mod Switch Framework, ammo subtypes can be switched seamlessly through Pip-Boy's ammo tab, or through shortcut keys set in the MCM. This mod adds over 50+ unique subtypes to almost all ammo in vanilla, DLC and ammo. Each one has been carefully selected and carefully designed with a focus on gameplay variety and visual appeal.

Compatible with any weapon using the base ammo type, including modded weapons or weapons added by Creations (using vanilla or ammo ammo).

Additionally, nearly every ammo type comes with some form of Artisan Workbench crafting recipe, tuned for game balance and fun. Most subtypes will be generated within the level list, and base ammo variants can be found. Ammo recipes only appear after injection.

This includes Reloading Recipes (requires Husk), Recycling Recipes (requires Depleted Cells), Disintegration Recipes, and Transformation. Shell casings and spent energy ammo have a chance to be recovered when firing (with a luck bonus). The reload recipe has been simplified to fit Fallout 4's resource economy, while retaining many of the benefits of the New Vegas reload recipe. Some recipes will bring higher rewards depending on your perks. Ammo boxes and some remaining ammo boxes can be found in the weapons merchant's inventory.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
