About this mod Machine translation
"Putting SWAT into Swatters since 2229"
No more stupid Skyrim guards. You're either SWAT or you're not. This mod upgrades Diamond City security with better weapons, Swatters and headwear.
tactical weapons
The guard will appear with a gun. They have:
- 30% chance of carrying a random assault rifle.
- 30% chance of carrying a random battle rifle.
- 20% chance to carry a random combat shotgun.
- The chance of carrying a submachine gun is 10%.
- 10% chance to carry a rare weapon (currently a Flamer or Ripper).
CUSTOM SWATTERS
All Diamond City security guards now carry random fly swatters instead of regular bats. Two guards (Market Guard and School Guard) do not carry firearms in the vanilla game. Their bats are also upgraded to Swatters.
HATS
Imagine my surprise when I took off my protective helmet, they all looked alike. Seriously, there appear to be two guard variants paired with two male voice actors, and the graphics follow that pattern. So I decided to add a variety of headwear, but only items that looked good and made sense.
Guards have a 40% chance of not wearing a hat at all. Those choosing a hat will choose evenly between a blue batting helmet, a Field Scribe's Hat, a gray knit hat, and a black metal helmet. I know it's not unified if they don't all wear the same hat. Please trust me on this.
sunglasses
There is a 40% chance that the guard will not wear sunglasses at all. Those choosing shades will have an even choice between black rim glasses, patrol sunglasses, wraparound goggles and classic sunglasses.
Install
Place the DiamondCitySWAT esp in the Data folder.
Known issues
***If your character has been to Diamond City: Travel to another area, use the Better Wait Menu mod to wait 99 hours x 2 and then return to Diamond City for this mod's changes to appear. Tested and confirmed! ***
Even so, Danny Sullivan (the guard who lets you into Diamond City) will probably be stubborn about holding on to his pipe rifle. This could be a quest or animation issue, I'm not sure. When I visited with my new test character, he packed some nice tactical heat, as shown in the screenshot.
compatibility
This is a small mod that gets a lot of mileage in the way it's implemented, since Bethesda was kind enough to include a list of randomized weapon templates in the game code. This mod only has OVERRIDES:
- LLI_DiamondCitySecurityEquipment(0002332F)
- LLI_DiamondCitySecurityEquipmentBats(0012B97F)
- DmndSecurityOutfit(000BAD65)
The remaining entries are new unique lists: DCS_LL_Glasses, DCS_LL_Hats, DCS_LL_WeaponRare, DCS_LL_WeaponTactical.
This mod only uses default vanilla graphics and resources. If you want jazz, let me know.
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
