describe

The Nagant M1895 revolver is a unique pistol that was used by the Russian police in both world wars and later. It uses a special mechanism that creates an air seal around the cylinder, allowing the air seal to be suppressed, which is very rare in revolvers. However, it is clunky and time-consuming to load, has a terrible double-action trigger, fires mediocre ballistics, and overall performance is not great.

With this mod and the transition from the real world to Fallout 4, some of the issues are alleviated!

The detective pistol is a double-action weapon with a relatively fast rate of fire, which can quickly release combo damage, while maintaining a relative balance due to long-term reloading. It can be built into a more traditional .44 caliber firearm, with a standard rate of fire and high damage per shot, or it can be designed with a maximum rate of fire and reload speed, distinguishing it from the original .44.

It holds seven rounds, is chambered in .38 caliber and can be rechambered to .44 caliber to avoid introducing new dependencies or ammunition types. In reality, such high-powered ammunition would probably make the gun explode, but we call the lack of these constraints a form of creative freedom.

The detective pistol is loaded bullet by bullet, so it integrates counting loading (BCR) and tactical loading (TR) to achieve seamless loading of single bullets instead of reloading all 7 rounds each time. If you don't like or don't want to download BCR or TR, I also included a version without these mods, but the recommended experience is to have both installed.

Installation instructions

Select one of the two main files. If you choose the version without BCR and TR, it is plug and play. If you want BCR and TR, choose the version that includes them, and be sure to install both BCR and TR.

If you don't want tactical reloading, but still want to use BCR functionality, install the optional patch that removes tactical reloading as required and includes both the TR and BCR master files.

If you want to use BCR and TR but find them incompatible, I have had good success using the BCR 2.0 and TR 1.4 versions.

KEY FEATURES: Custom animations for first person, third person and power armor!

Customize your tone!

The number of attachments is sufficient!

There are almost no loopholes!

Tribute

Big thanks to Shiagur for their work on the Blender Rig, without their efforts it would have been nearly impossible. I'd also like to thank them for their help in answering my various questions while developing this mod, and their Discord server for being a friendly and helpful place to learn how to mod Fallout 4. I can also say the same for DegenerateDak's Discord.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
