Federal Consumables, Author: Des

I've always loved the quirky, unique consumables scattered throughout the Fallout games, like the Sugarbomb, but after playing hundreds of hours in Federation 4, I found myself craving more variety.

I wanted more flavor, more wasteland weirdness, and more personality.

This is where the inspiration for COTC comes from.

COTC adds over 30 new food items like Radiated Eggs, Kingsport Abyssal Fish, Paula's Coffee, Arkham's Octopus Slices, and more!

All food is 100% lore-friendly and should fit seamlessly into 4's retro-futuristic/atompunk world.

All of these foods have been added to level lists, containers, vendors, and more so you can find these items in the world!

Install

  • Just click install and use your favorite mod manager (MO2 recommended)
  • Install manually by dragging the files into the Fallout 4 Data folder, overwriting when prompted. (I advise you not to do this)

compatibility

  • Compatible with most mods -

Might conflict with other food mods, but I highly doubt it. If you have any conflicting files, let it overwrite any conflicting files (but you shouldn't do this since I haven't touched anything vanilla except LL)

FAQ

Q: Where can I find new foods?

Answer: Vanilla food can be found everywhere in the game. They have been added to loot tables, containers, and vendors.

Q: Is the food balanced?

Answer: Yes. Some even have special food buffs

Q: Do they work in survival mode?

Answer: Should, yes

Q: Are these foods legend-friendly?

Answer: 100%.

Q: Will these foods conflict with other mods that add consumables?

A: No major conflicts are expected as all content is added via hierarchical lists

Q: Can I cook these new foods?

Answer: Not yet. Now they are spread across the world, containers and vendors. Cooking recipes may be added in a future update (maybe)

Q: Will more items be added in the future?

Answer: Of course. The current version has 30 consumables, but I plan to make an add-on or a companion mod for this.

Q: Missing texture/purple food/red triangle item found! help!

Answer: This means the texture path is not loading correctly or the mesh is missing. Make sure you install the mod correctly and that your mod manager doesn't ignore loose files. If needed, reinstall and let it overwrite anything. If the problem persists, please tell me which project has the bug and I'll look into it. Before you flood my comments section with questions that could have been addressed, please check out the comments section.

Q: Can I uninstall this in-game?

Answer: Yes.

Q: Will they be generated instantly in new saves?

A: Yes, but I recommend doing the old "wait in a shelter bunker" trick. They are injected directly into the hierarchical list, no scri pts are required.

Q: Will this work on Xbox or PlayStation?

A: For PlayStation, no. For Xbox? If anyone wants to port it, of course. If you do this be sure to let me know as I won't be able to help you as I have no experience with Xbox mods or porting them. I don't even have Fallout 4 on Xbox.

Q: Can you add [item]

Answer: If it is modern, no. If it fits Fallout, yes sure, find me a model

Q: Can I make a patch for [mod name here]?

Answer: Of course, just ask for permission

Just ask: tHiS iTeM iSn'T lOrE fRiEnDlY

Answer: Cool, delete it yourself. Open CK or FO4Edit and delete it from LL. I trust you

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
