About this mod Machine translation

Gives Deathclaws some rare spare dialogue, where they mimic human voice lines.

Updated on October 31st:

Version 1.01

Adjusted the conditions for Bethesda's Deathclaw dialogue quest so that it correctly applies to all NPCs using Deathclaw voices, not just NPCs using the original Deathclaw race. Thanks to temberwolf95 for pointing this out!

This change means that Deathclaws added by mods that rely on DLC races (such as the unused Wasteland Workshop Deathclaw race) will now use that mod's dialogue.

This also means that DLC content such as the Crocodile Claw and the unused Quantum Death Claw will use dialogue.

The main file (supporting BA2 and component formats) and the optional 3x and 5x line files have been uploaded. You can choose to install them according to your needs.

----

This is an entry in the FALLOUT MODATHON 2025 "Haunted Wasteland" category!

Ever wanted to make your deathclaw even more creepy? Maybe their hunting habits are a little smarter? Do you wish Bethesda would follow up on the intelligent deathclaw experiment in Fallout 2 a little bit? Presenting less intelligent Deathclaws, who sometimes mimic humans to trick them.

Features

Provides some rare idle dialogue for the Deathclaw, mimicking existing voice lines in Fallout 4.

That's it. That's the whole mod.

Marked as lightweight plugin (esp with esl flag) to minimize impact on load order.

FAQ

**How to start using this mod? **

Just install it! No configuration or special steps are required.

**Is this safe to use in existing games? **

Can.

**Can you remove the subtitles? **

Yes, but I won't. The purpose of subtitles is to serve as a visual aid to describe what someone (or something) is saying. Choosing to omit subtitles for thematic effect completely defeats that purpose.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
