About this mod Machine translation

Killer:

The BAL7, developed by General Atomics, is the public replacement for the military's AER9 laser. The BAL7 was originally marketed as a varmint rifle for rodents and small game, with the gimmick of "instant and clean vaporization," making it popular among tinkerers looking for ways to drastically increase their power output. Its simple design and durable components make it ideal for personal customization and hunting of all kinds...as long as energy saving is not an issue.

balance:

The Break Action Laser is designed to fill the frustrating power gap of standard laser weapons. Laser scatter weapons are nearly useless (and completely unusable) outside of melee range, while semi-auto lasers lack the power output to be useful as late game weapons. BAL filled an early gap by offering an upgradeable shotgun with moderate range.

Later, with higher levels of Science and GunNut, BAL can fill other roles in your arsenal (and give you a valuable way to burn Fusion Cells). The Lobber muzzle turns the weapon into a grenade launcher, rapidly firing medium-range explosives. The Discharger Muzzle offers the longest possible range with an accurate and powerful single shot that can withstand the resistance penetration of the most powerful ballistic weapons.

notes:

All BAL configurations work using standard fusion cells to avoid cumbersome chemlab ammunition conversions. It's not like you're going to be doing Gauss Rifle level damage for a single Fusion Cell, each shot will pull extra ammo out of your bag.

Custom sounds give each muzzle option a suitably satisfying punch rather than the standard laser "pew".

Fully compatible with CROSS Crit Gore overhaul, no patches required.

The patch that burns the battery here is the battery.

  • Add BAL to various level lists in the world via script, without editing any vanilla records.
  • Most enemies that can have a laser by default have a chance to carry one, most likely the Gunslinger.
  • Most gun suppliers can also produce them in their shops.

-Legendary spawns are also enabled, they start appearing at level 15+

  • You can make BAL in chemlab (or Cybernetics Lab if you use CROSS_Cybernetics).

-Console searches for "Break action Laser" to get the loadorder unique ID, use the ID ending in 0017F9.

Grip strength: short/none/long

  • Short handle provides a balance between weight and stability.
  • No option is lightweight but significantly reduces accuracy.
  • Long-term stocking provides high target stability at the expense of weight.

Muzzle: Scatter Arc/Fusion Lobster/Discharger

--Scatter Arc acts as a shotgun. It fires 8 energy bolts in a tight arc at moderate range. Magsize is 3, total 5 cells per shot.

--Fusion Lobber is like a grenade launcher. Uses the EXPLOSIVES perk (does not benefit Rifleman at all). It fires energy balls that explode on impact and deal additional damage on direct hits. The damage shown in the menu is before the additional bonus damage. Magsize has a total of 1,15 cells per shot.

  • The discharger is a more traditional hitscan laser. This laser performs much better in the late game than the standard laser, dealing extremely high damage with each shot and being able to penetrate energy resistance more effectively. Magsize has a total of 2 cells per shot.

core:

  • Core levels follow progression similar to standard weapons, they don't add any new functionality but provide damage progression as you level up.

Attractions: Iron/Holographic: Reflection/Holographic: Lobber/Range: Combat/Range: Ranged

  • Standard iron sights.

--Holo: Reflection. Short range sighting has a wide field of view, perfect for scattering muzzles.

  • Jolo: Rob. The raised, layered grenade sight is used to line up the Fusion Lobber's arc rounds.

--Scope: Combat. Mid-range scope, uses full perspective scope with custom reticle.

  • Range: Remote. Long range long range scope (using standard scope sights).

Skins: Classic Laser (Default)/Academy (Legendary)/Brotherho …

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
