CRIME AND PUNISHMENT A
Flashy(JoeR) mod
Question: Have you ever turned around and Preston was right there, in your fucking face, started talking about how another settlement needed your help, and then dumped a mission on you without even giving you the option to refuse? Do you ever find yourself complaining or talking to the monitor, telling him to just STFU and not give you any more damn radiant missions? Don't you wish he could actually hear you scolding him and just shut up for once? Guess what? With CAP you can do just that. If this doesn’t get you downloading and installing the mod, then read on friends. Let me change your mind.
TL;
DR There is no such thing as tl ;DR When it comes to this mod, if you expect it to fully exert its effect without any problem, it's not. Be smart. RTFM. Everything you need to know is written on this page for you. Not only did I spend my personal time making this mod, but I also documented it as best I could. The least you can do is take the time to read this description page before using the mod or posting a question that has been answered here. Control-F is your friend! Please use it!
Note: Crime And Punishment is a large mod based on F4SE scripts. I know some people care about this, so I'll put it out there from the beginning.
What is crime and punishment? Can you give me a high-level overview?
First, Crime and Punishment (CAP) is a customizable karma and crime system that brings countless potential consequences to your actions.
CAP is a feature and system mod that adds new features to the game, all of which is done without changing any assets from the original game, it introduces new mechanics to combat such as a surrender system for yourself and your enemies, a new settlement repopulation system such as natural reproduction, capturing and asking random NPCs if they want to come work for you. It also includes mechanics like holdups, where you can hold up various NPCs in the game to rob them of their hats, chemicals, or their inventory, and a camouflage system, where you can disguise yourself and walk between certain types of enemies without triggering combat. It also features a recruiting system, with characters you can play to earn extra caps (utilizing fade-to-black transitions, but will use AAF if available). CAP also includes an updated version of another mod of mine, Stealthy Takedowns, included natively in CAP, where you can sneak up on enemies and kill them by moving them. CAP does so much for your game that it needs a manual to explain it all (the manual is in the ARTICLES for this mod).
Most importantly, and this is important, Crime and Punishment represents your commitment. This is not a mod you can pull from an ongoing game without completely breaking the save file you pulled it from. Note that this mod can do a lot without changing the base game assets. It does this in a scripted way, and these are not things that can simply be restored. Installing and activating CAP on any save means committing to having it run in that game from start to finish.
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
