About this mod Machine translation

Warning, technical information ahead, don't read if you care about realism

Pokepunch's mod adds a "fusion breeder" (which is an ammo placeholder) by giving you an invisible mission every time you pull a laser rifle, and a script that gives you another every time you drop/use/lose one. This leads to a bug where players end up with hundreds of breeders, unable to remove them from their inventory.

This implementation has no quests and no inventory check script, it adds one "keeper" when you equip the laser rifle, another one when you reload it (i.e. use the one you have), and it removes all of them when you unequip the musket. This way you will only have a "keeper" in your inventory if you have the rifle equipped.

It also hides them from the user, so you won't see the fusion breeder at all, hiding the "breeder" mechanic entirely, which is how it should have been from the beginning, as the breeder is just a placeholder.

in short

You turn the hand crank to charge the rifle, no ammo required (not a feeder either).

compatibility

Immersive gaming - Compatible, no patches required.

Laser Musket Overhaul - Compatible, patch available under optional download.

Generally it should be compatible with any mod that doesn't edit rifle crank modifications.

Known issues and how to resolve them

In the new game you shouldn't have any problems. In existing saves, the following issues may occur:

1: After installing the mod, I cannot start the rifle.

If your character is currently equipped with a rifle, this will happen the first time you load the mod and re-equip the rifle.

2: After installing the mod, Preston doesn't want to use his laser rifle.

Dismiss Preston and fast travel/move to the interior unit, save the game, load and hire Preston and he should start using his laser rifle again. Another solution is to give him another rifle.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
