Brahmins have always been boring in FO4, they're all the same big bright red bull. So this mod aims to change all that by adding 8 brand new coat colors (1 vanilla, 4 common solid coats and 4 rarer speckled coats) as well as Brahman bulls and calves. They all have a chance to spawn from beacons, cages, and Brahmin Trader Kellys, and you'll also find an even greater variety of Brahmins scattered throughout the Commonwealth. The mod includes a new food recipe and furniture items that can be crafted after you find the new custom magazine Successful Farming.
This mod includes:
- Bull and calf.
- 8 new coat colors.
- The Bulls have 4 balls.
- Fresh eyes.
- Cow septum ring.
- NPC pack brahmins are now bullshit, except for Lucas' old girl.
- NPC Brahmins now have names, Kara's bull is now named Angus and Caitlin's bull is called Tabasco.
- Brahmin merchant Kelly will randomly sell cows, bulls and calves of all coat colors.
- 4 Brahmins have been added to Diamond City.
- Workshop Brahmins can now be transferred to different settlements.
- NPC packs Brahmin and Clarabelle are now protected.
- The Abernathy Farm now has a new calf named Buttercup.
- 3 new head mounts (two skulls and a cow head).
- 1 new miscellaneous skull item.
- Farmers now sell bullrings, brahmin hides and skulls.
- 1 new magazine, all recipes are also bundled.
- New food recipe, Brahmin fries.
- New meat found in bulls.
- The Butcher sells new Bull Beef products.
- Hay and trough recipes now require razor grains instead of wood.
- Hay bales, hook posts and feed troughs in Nuka World can now be crafted with new magazines instead of via DLC.
- The trough is now filled with hay.
- 2 new haystacks for Brahmins to use as troughs.
- New haystacks for decoration.
- Added ability to trade with Brahmins in optional add-on.
New magazine finds:
Found in a house in the Sunshine Tidings Co-op.
New furniture can be found in the following categories:
New slot: Resources > Miscellaneous
Head/Skeleton Mounts: Decorations>Wall Decorations>Mounted Creatures
Nuka World: Nuclear Bomb World>Decorations>Dry Rock Canyon
I've included an optional file that allows you to trade with Brahmins, which will allow you to equip the Brahmin Bull Ring. I did this so that you have a mod that adds clothes for a Brahmin and you can easily access the Brahmin's inventory. Not required, but a nice bonus mod.
FAQ/Troubleshooting
=====================
Q: Can you install this mod in the game?
Answer: Yes, but you may come across some Brahman cows without horns. This is because the Brahman uses npc specific attachment points, which I had to change so that the NPC bull would appear correctly in the current save, with horns. Since many cows in real life don't always have horns, I figured this was the best compromise I could make.
Keep in mind that by doing this the Brahmin is likely to lose stock, change coat color, or even turn into a calf.
- Open the console and click on Brahman.
- Type Recycleactor
- Type resurrection
Q: Can't I uninstall this mod mid-game?
Answer: I won't. You may lose any settlement brahmins you have, i.e. bulls or calves, and use my new coat color. NPC Brahmins should be fine (like Clarabelle and NPC Bag Brahmins …
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
