Exactly what it says on the tin. Just like the Settlers, the vanilla companion provides unlimited ammo for all weapons. As long as they have 1 round in stock, they can fire indefinitely - the only exception is settlers with weapons that also consume ammo (like the Fat Man).
There are two versions:
Single: This works one vanilla companion at a time (so, everything you have in the base game). It does not edit NPCs. It does not work with multiple follower modules.
MULTI: This applies to all vanilla mates. It edits NPCs, so will conflict with any other mod that edits NPC forms.
I recommend the SINGLE version because it changes less forms. If you use a mod that allows you to have multiple vanilla followers at the same time, use MULTI.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
