About this mod Machine translation

Commonwealth Express Courier Stations

This mod adds 8 small, simple station player homes in various locations across the Commonwealth, each with its own unique style. They're a place to safely store your stuff until you can get to your main base (or until you can get one); they're a place to escape from the storm; they're a place to sleep and rest if you need to.

Commonwealth Express Courier Stations is an homage to one of my favorite Fallout modes: New Vegas, Mojave Express Courier Stations. The idea of both modes is simple: give your character a series of small, simple internal units to stand and flip over in order to rest, sleep, and drop off loot between exploration runs. They're a place to safely store your stuff until you can deliver it to your main base (or until you can get one); they're a place to escape from the storm. I was impressed with the concept and execution of Mojave Express Courier Stations in FNV and thought Fallout 4 needed something similar. I couldn't find any mods that came close to what I wanted, so I made my own. The result was Commonwealth Express Courier Stations.

This mod is designed based on my experience in alternate start, survival mode games. Therefore, it suits my own playstyle. Starting the game in an area other than your "normal" starting location severely limits your options for having a clean bed and safe storage space early in the game, especially if you didn't purchase a Home Plate and don't want to build those scary settlements. This mod adds several such locations throughout the Commonwealth, making it easier to find a safe place to sleep and store loot.

Fallout FROST users: The mod works completely with FROST as long as you ignore Commonwealth Express lore and assets.

PLEASE NOTE: This MOD is a collection of old school style gamers...no workshops!

  • You can't build them!
  • You cannot assign settlers to them!
  • You cannot fire their companions! *
  • You can't create supply lines for them!
  • This mod was made for my own game the way I wanted it, I don't make changes or take "requests".

Most items are static, but there are several lootable items and containers in each cell.

  • The mod Magical Followers Tweaks has a feature that allows you to define any location as your companion's home. If you want to send companions here (or anywhere else), I recommend checking out that mod.

There are no DLC requirements for this mod. This mod is PC only and will not be ported to consoles, so please don't ask.

About express station:

All sites have:

  • Work light (off by default)
  • Exterior lighting (automatically on at night and off during the day)
  • Clean water source
  • Bed with Well Rested/Lover's Embrace bonus
  • Safe storage
  • Workbench linked to all other workstation workbench (shared "cloud" storage)
  • Map Activator to add map markers to the nearest stations on your Pip-Boy map
  • You can fast travel from inside all stations
  • Full navigation to peers marked with comments and idleness

A list of each station's location and facilities is at the end of this section of the spoiler. If you don't want to be given your position and capabilities on a silver platter and want to discover them yourself, don't read it.

Beyond a simple light switch or two, none of the stations had all the fancy schamncy interactive scripting features of my past gamer home appliances: that means no magical inventory sorting containers, trash compactors, core chargers, or water purifiers. Plan for mostly rough machining.

My goal was simplicity, as there is no one place that serves as a "main base" for players in the traditional sense. They're essentially little "holes in the wall" just for you to discover, sleep and store loot on your way to other places. That being said, they all have the core features one would expect from a good player's home: secure containers for storage, a workbench or two, clean water, and a bed that provides the Well Rested and Lover's Embrace bonuses. No frills, no extras...just the absolut …

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
