The main file is now version 1.0.0: when you hold down the throw button, the weapon will be holstered. Users confirmed that it works on both older versions of the game and the Anniversary Edition (1.11.x).
What it does
In the original Fallout 4, the grenade trajectory followed the weapon: both the gun and your hand covered the end of the arc, so you couldn't see where the grenade or mine landed.
With this mod, when you hold down the throw button, the weapon is set aside and the entire trajectory is visible - whether stationary or moving, with or without powered armor. When you release the key, you'll see your throw move as normal and the weapon will be raised again. Short pressing still slams as usual.
Working principle
The throw button is the game's melee control (Alt by default, RB on the controller), so it can be used with any key binding. Press briefly; hold for a little longer (0.3 seconds, the game's own throwing delay) to throw. When pressing turns to throwing, the weapon is lowered.
The weapon will enter the game's "gun down" pose - the same pose you see when hitting a wall or targeting a friendly NPC. The throw itself is vanilla: there's no holstering or drawing, and the throw is never canceled.
In the vanilla pose, the gun is only attached to the chest, still covering the landing site, so the mod provides separate versions of the gun knockdown animation for each weapon type, normal body armor, power armor, base game, and DLC.
Only effective if grenades or mines are equipped and the gun is drawn. Melee Weapons Remain Untouched: On vanilla throws, melee weapons are pulled back and unable to cover the trajectory.
If you press the throw button while the previous throw is in progress, the weapon will be lowered after the throw.
Separate throw and slam keys (optional)
Turn on the throw button to only throw in MCM: the throw button will throw once, even if it is pressed briefly, it cannot be slammed. Bash has its own keys, which you can set in the same menu. When you hold down the throw button, the weapon is lowered and you can aim with full trajectory; tap to instantly pass.
The game's throwing delay is only changed in memory and never written to your ini file; turning this option off will restore it.

No DLC is required (DLC weapon animations are completely unnecessary if there is no DLC).

Install
Install using the mod manager, or unzip the archive into your Data folder and enable the plugin. The plugin is ESL tagged (it does not occupy a load order slot).
Can be safely added to an existing archive. The only master for the plug-in is Fallout4.esm, which does not change any of the master recordings.
Upgrading from 1.0: Install directly on top. Version 1.0 stows the weapon instead of lowering it; you can still get it in the save file if you like it (for example, if another mod replaces the gun animation).
compatibility
Mods that replace first-person gunnery animations (WPNIdleGunDown.hkx, WPNRunGunDown.hkx) conflict with this mod's animations - the version installed later wins. Another version of the weapon with a smaller reduction might cover some of the ballistics; nothing would break.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
